How does catch up work? If I roll a rookie and put him on a sophomore team, if and when can he "catch up"?

They can catch up right now in the off-season. But have to have a game played. To put a rookie on a Soph team, you need to make a PuP.....play one pickup game....convert into a real player.....then do catch up.
