My player isn't really good rn, but I just found out that I can use SP boosts. Should I use them?

Of course...they are free on your free players. But if your guy isn't very good, you can always retire him and rebuild him.

What about the activate all 12 SP boosts for the extra SP and games?

You can't use those yet. I wouldn't touch the cap boosts until you need them, if you need them. You will get some free cap boosters as you level. I believe AP boosts cost flex as well. You can't use them yet. If you plan on retiring and rebuilding your player I wouldn't touch those either. I would only use that stuff once you make it to vet and want to continue on with that player.
