GLB2 has been shrinking in tier sizes for many, many seasons now as we all know. What are some ways that we can increase the amount of teams in the game?

I for one, believe that flex costs for team ownership should be lowered and flex rewards should be given to team owners at the completion of seasons. I would suggest something like the following:

Rookie - 250 flex cost to own the team. If the team finishes above .500 the team owner is rewarded 350 flex. If the team finishes below .500, the team owner is rewarded 150 flex.

Soph - 300 flex cost to own the team. Over .500 the owner is rewarded 400-500 flex. Below .500 the owner is rewarded 200 flex.

JMan - 350 flex cost to own the team. Over .500 = owner reward of 500-600 flex. Below .500 the owner gets 250 flex.

Pro - 400 flex cost to own the team. Over .500 = owner reward of 600-750 flex. Below .500 = owner reward of 250-300 flex.

Vet - 500 flex cost to own the team. Over .500 = owner reward of 1000 flex. Below .500 = owner reward of 350 flex.

The idea here is to reward owners with some flex and provide incentives for carrying the team through vet. Rewards increase and flex cost increases, but quality owners/coaches would fire up more teams to try to gain the greater than .500 rewards for seasons and newer agents are more likely to find quality teams to learn from. There will still be stacked teams and all but I would imagine that secondary teams owned by top agents could be partial CPU squads with whatever human players would join up.

I am not sure what other good ideas that people may have regarding this issue, but more teams are definitely needed and as things have stood for a long time, team owners are basically punished having to pay for the team, scrims and what not. There needs to be incentive for owning teams if the game has any chance to begin growing again in my opinion...

GLB2 doesn't exactly make maintaining a team easy at times. A free agency market(like GLB1 but improved) would go a long way. As would allowing people to make PuPs at any tier level, so they can fill needed roster spots. Rookie had 48 teams last season, but is down to the 20's. For many new owners, its nearly impossible to fill their rosters. Even veteran owners have that issue if they didn't' plan long enough, and that truly is the biggest issue of all. Go to Create Player and you'll see that every position is in high demand. That leads to weak teams, and only those with solid owners/staff tend to fair well because they know what's needed and can bring in a few S* players. Most of these new owners lose interest because there's no interaction to be had with CPU players, and league discussion forums stall.

Owners only stay for so long if they can't recruit players, and have to field teams filled with mostly CPUs. My thought has always been that players should be free, and that only boosts cost money. A QB costs just 150 flex to make anyway, but the boosts would be substantially more(1000+), so why not just allow agents to make as many players as they want. Most agents will still boost because they'll want their teams to be competitive, but new and lower tier teams can fill a roster, and leagues would be active which encourages more to stick around.

I think the main reason why agents leave is because they know, even if they buy their own team, they cannot compete with the elite unless they get several agents to create S*s for them, and that just doesn't happen.

You want more agents to come in and create teams and stay? Give unlimited number of S*s to each agent or cap the # of S*s on a team to like 6 or 7. Until then, this game will never grow.

I love this idea. I think it would do wonders for keeping more owners interested.

You of all people know people make multi's to skirt around this, you can have a bunch of accounts of your own to make S*'s for your main accounts team

Multis wouldn't be used if we were able to create as many S*s as possible. Why are we limited?

Is it time to add good CPU players? Maybe a free agency with open attributes with a list of players? So teams can refill the roster and be able to compete. Of couse they would need to be a bit worse in comparison to human, otherwise people would just create teams with CPUs...

And yes players are too expensive, they need price reduction.

Let's see how the Energy changes play out on those S* loaded teams.

Depth might matter now.

Not to hijack the thread- but is the general consensus that the owners of the game don't care about growing it anymore at this point?

It's going down the very same path as GLB Classic unfortunately

team ownership costs are by far the least of the problems.

As others pointed out -- it is player cost that is too high.

This is a coordinator game -- not a player game --- and coordinating is free. Team ownership is incredibly cheap (not to mention your 'rich get richer' plan is always one that bort has disliked).

Yes - the new energy change may require more depth -- which means (in my opinion) the game will shrink even faster -- as it will require more players be built (they won't be because they are too expensive). Who is going to spend an extra couple thousand flex per season to build backups who play 10-20 plays a game other than GE and his team of multi's?
