This seems to be a complicated position to figure out. I'd like to believe my CB are pretty good, but I am missing something.

Like the difference of how to stop the screen pass vs covering the slot reciever?

S* CBs are the most underrated S* position in the game. A great S* CB can shut down an entire side of the field on both running and passing.

The best way to stop the screen is run a zone.

But doing that will ensure you don't stop any other passes.

Its mostly about the plays you run.. depending on who you're playing, it depends on how much you want to sell out v the screen

For instance if a team runs heavy screens and almost no downfield passes, with lots of rushes, I'd consider zone. If they dont rush much, and pass heavy, I'd use sky man under, or if they passed more downfield than screens I'd maybe use dime 3-2-6 strong cloud 6, or 335 MLB cloud. If its a juker or really fast WR though, the last two wont be 100% effective as sky man under is. I think most people would agree its far and away the best man coverage play vs the screens in vet/pro, though earlier tiers you can get away with 4-3 cover 1 cb fire for a TFL

How much of the physicals is important for a cover CB? Do they need high sprinting or Footwork?

Its always been said footwork, for covering the routes, but need quickness and sprint too for sure

Footwork is actually pretty over hyped, I cap it between 40-50. I'd prefer not to give away my CB secrets, but I'll let you know that higher quickness leads to better recovery speed, and then match that with enough sprinting and you have the perfect bait CB

Before it would lead to deflections, but if you add some intercepting now then you'll have a monster

High footwork and quickness is a must. For zone, sprinting is not needed much.

perhaps a reason you are good at run defense (most of the time) and suck at pass defense
