So we all know there is one good screen in GLB, everyone runs it, etc etc.

What other screens are salvagable from the playbook dumpster? Could a purpose-built screen-heavy team work, could it be fun, and what would it look like to you?

Which Screens are hopelessly busted? (Looking at you, TE screen) What screens just need a little chance to shine?

They can start by fixing the invisible wall behind the QB that prevents him from dropping back more than 8-9 yards. Screens work best when the QB lures the DLine into a heavy rush and then dumps off the pass.

My 88 Footwork QB still hits the invisible resulting in too many auto-sacks.

So you have no idea how well the current plays *would* actually work until this gets fixed.

I can think of just three screens that work and it is dependent on the defensive play call to work. Those screens can be easily stopped when the defense is expecting them.

Probably 4 good screens. 3 wr, 1 hb. All completely stoppable for sure but stopping them can also leave you vulnerable.

Really depends on the players too. Some WRs & HBs can pull off screens consistently that most can't. There are around 8-9 screens that work well, but the key is to not overuse them.

That said...most screens suck, largely because the WR/Hb route is too long which allows the QB to get sacked.

I was becoming curious if route running and route elusiveness effect the quality of the screen play?

I don't think the routes are long enough for those to matter much. By far the biggest factor I've seen in the quality of the screen play is your WR/HB's ability to get up and GO as soon as they have the ball.

Yep, quickness is the most important skill. The ability to turn fast and accelerate is critical.

Balance isn't super important. Just get it up to 40-50 and you should be pretty good.

Neither is footwork for that matter. I don't touch the skill.

balance is for CiS to fire, and if you don't think that helps I don't know what to tell ya

I'll give you footwork, but I do like having some of it. Not going to smash the build with it or anything, but my next screen wr build i'm going to put FS, CiS, and spin, so I will have footwork fairly high

I have cis but I don't really see much benefit from it in games. At least on screens. Maybe I'm not watching my player enough tho.

Sure if you have spin it makes sense. But in terms of movement on screens it looks 100% dependant on sprint and quickness on screens and that is it.
