I call horseshit on all of these plays.

These plays are all passes that WR should never have had a play on, but because CBs just keep running...

These are Pro teams.

I've not checked morale/energy on every play, but looking at WR1 Vs CB1, my CB was winning that contest all game 33 targets, 13 rec allowed. V good, but look at all of the horseshit passes that also should never have been caught!

The pass defense game is broken. It's been like this for 15 seasons.

I didn't count, but look at all of the 3rd downs, often 3rd and 10+. This means your D defended perfectly for 2 downs, but now that they're confidently handling the opposition they screw up on 3rd down with remarkable regularity...

Can someone do a 3rd down conversion analysis?

Defensive consistency helps alot on 3rd down.

As does receiving/pass consistency. The fact that nearly every WR maxes Rec Consistency for the Prime Time SA makes it even more glaring.

Not sure if this is relevant but most teams definition of pass defense is either sacking the QB before he can pass it or getting the pick, without focusing much on the basics eg. Deflection/Coverage

I'm confused....

Ann Arbor QB threw for 52.3% on passes
Robot's QB threw for 44.4% on passes

Not sure how pass defense is broken when if anything it has always outperformed what you see in the NFL. Tom Brady is throwing for 73.1% so far this season, for example. Career avg is 63.7%

As for 3rd downs, in this game Ann Arbor threw for 53% on 3rd downs. Robots threw for 44% on 3rd downs. CBs don't always notice the pass, but that's how it is in the NFL too.

Totally hear you Bo, I was really surprised after I'd saved these links when I then looked at the box score to find these completion %ages. My argument is, they should have been even lower.

Now and again, receivers make great plays in the real world and QBs make great throws, let's say 2 or 3 per game. The 24 plays above are all examples of a failing game mechanic, ie the CB just keeps running past the WR who stopped and turned around, or the QB was hurried and the ball was thrown into double or triple coverage and caught. These CBs on RLords have 80+ in Man aware, Cov Tech and Deflecting yet play like retards at times.

It's a long-standing problem too, back at the beginning tswilliam and Xavier (remember him?) used to bang on about it at great length on the forums. Both left the game in frustration because of it (that and other things, I imagine). I say it's still a problem.

Yeah, and I have a problem on my team with low confidence builds because it was created before they made the morale game an active ingredient again, so I do have pretty low Def Consistency across the secondary and that has definitely proved to be a flaw in the team build, so I'll accept we may be pretty crap on 3rd downs.

However, if the CBs just keep running after the WR turns around, it doesn't matter how you are built. This is the brokenness I'm trying to point at.

Good points. I agree it would be nice if DBs stuck with the WR better when they turned around. Wouldn't mind if the Devs boosted Cov Tech or Man Awr to make 90+ skilled players stick to WRs like a glove. But they would also need to boost Route Tech, so elite WRs can get open/fake too. Not sure what the right balance would be though.

Gah. I'm just having a hissy fit because I'm tired of it.

Getting the balance right is proving to be a v difficult thing for them, amd me, and all of us to do. Can't please everyone, and there are so many factors at play.

Yeah, my first thought went towards consistency.

Secondly, I thought about comparisons. What are the CB's Srinting/quickness/Footwork/Balance ratio in comparison to the WR's. What are the height and weight ratios.

Sometimes it's merely a matchups situation.

Yeah, I rage sometimes too. But have to bring myself back to realizing that it's never going to be a perfect setting and we're victims to the Roll.

This game got me pretty raged.

We gave up an 80% completion rate on third downs while just 52% on first and second down. Seems third and long should be much harder to complete than first and second down where distance isn't factor.

Happens to me too. And my collective defensive consistency is terrible.
