What would be a view of everyone on the ability to dictate, like on offense in the playbooks, whether a play is a short/medium/long/inside/outside rush? It may make getting the right plays getting called easier, although would take longer to set up a defensive playbook.. however given inside rush stopping plays arent actually that effective, and similar with a lot of outside rushing plays, as well as long plays being sparse, if we could pick plays we wanted to use on long downs, etc, that might be a big help towards clearing up the difficulty of defensive playcalling, or is this too complicated?

You can call any play at any time but it has to line up across the board.
I always wanted to be able to plug plays directly into the formation playbook it's self rather than have the one size fits all system we have have, which is not good at all. This should have been the system from the beginning.
Others have suggested the ability to tag the plays themselves in the playbook which I also like a lot. This is the best solution at this point. You could just pick a distance bubble similar to the WR progression bubbles. I think this is very doable.
I would love to have the ability to call something like Cover 1 CB Fire on first down and ZEB on third and long. Right now there is absolutely no way it can be done. I am pretty much forced to call one play per formation and build the team around that.
I have always felt they tried to make defense and offense similar and couldn't quite figure the defensive part out so the declared it good enough rather than a great polished system.

I like the bubble idea similar to the pass plays. Allow us to tag our short, med, long, inside run and outside run plays that would give us waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more control over what is called situationally and allow for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more variations on defense!

Exactly.. issues currently mean we struggle to control our defensive plays and when they're called, and it'd be nice to have a little more control over them... it might help out with the huge offensive game come vet

I believe I remember in GLB1, they allowed to match up defender to receiver. I'm not sure how that panned out, but would like to see something like that occur.
tagging - they've said (at least historically) that they will never bring tagging over here as they want it to be more casual

It has nothing to do with GLB1 tagging. It's just the ability to change the distance setting on a defensive play within a formation playbook. You would have the ability to turn say ZEB into a medium blitz by clicking on the "M" bubble. It would change it from the default "S" bubble within that formation's playbook.

Allowing us to tag in this manner would make it more casual, as it is Ive been using the current defensive interface for 10 seasons, I still cant make it work for me, I hate being a DC,but do so because this game needs quality DCs more than any other coaches.

osiris - pull your panties out...I was specifically referencing the post above mine asking for ability to match up defender on receiver.
jagator - Fine with me if they change it - I was just sharing what I've seen corndog share in the forums 5 or more times in the last few years.
I agree with all that the D interface could be fairly easily improved. They just never seem interested in doing it.

Just simply being able to tag whether a play can be short, medium, long, outside, inside would go a long ways towards the dai being more intuitive. But the matrix still complicates new and old users alike.

I figured you were referring to my post since there is no way to tag a WR in GLB1 and no custom CB slot. It seems a lot easier to do here since most people do not change their Offensive depth charts much here as far as I know, and the defensive depth charts are much more in depth over here. The Defensive Depth Charts are one thing they really got right on defense here.
I wanted to completely do away with the matrix except for distances and maybe Big lead. I would totally be satisfied with custom distance tags at this point in the game.
