My question is this... Im planning on working diving a bit to see if that helps, and he's not particularly slow, with 50 sprint, 40 quickness and 60 footwork for a DE, is there anything else I could do to get him better at sacking the qb when he's in the pocket?
Forum > FAQ's, Player Guides and Game Help > My DE seems great at hurrying a QB, but how to convert those into sacks

Faster spin cycles and speed. My S* DE is rocking 92 sprint on BSB and I opened the build for those interested. He is a bit of a do it all DE but does pretty well in the sack/hurry department. Numbers are down at the start of this season mainly due to our early schedule. There are two other fast DEs in Vet right now I believe. MadCow PUP'd up a DE for the Rusty Trombones and Bronx Bombers have one. Nothing wrong with hurries though as hurries typically force the QB to shuffle one way or the other and that movement can lower their accuracy and completion chance.

Damn thats one seriously fast DE... okay I'll work some major speed in there then for sure
true, but hurries get tiring after a while.. and sacks on defense can lead to fumbles, turnovers, and change a whole game, plus they're more fun
thanks buddy!
I just checked out that DE's build, man its insane!

No problem. There are not many people with high sprint DEs in the game. I waited until Vet to open up my guys build. I believe it is where the future is for the position and teams that I have been a part of and that listened at creation time will have some serious speed there. The high sprint also helps defend screen passes as the DE can turn and catch the WR at times. MadCow went pure sprint/quickness I believe and he is simply running around opposing OTs it seems. May create a need for higher snap reaction and footwork on OTs if many of those builds pop.

Bout Sums up my De. He is high sprint and quickness. The idea was to run right by the OTs. So far so good.

Ya that's the idea behind cows de. He runs around the ot and if the ot follows our 4.2 speed linebackers have a straight shit at the quarterback.

seems almost certain to draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty

This. Lamatto racks up a huge amount of hurries and he has 93 sprint. As less says it means the qb is shuffling to one side and often means other people get sacks too. And its a team game!

Anyone brought up pass rush tactics yet? Im not really sure but maybe someone here knows more about the effect. If you have it set to evasive maybe he is beating the tackle with speed but the path is too far to get the sack?

MadCows DE is set to Evasive surely as he is utilizing First Step and tunnel vision SAs along with elite sprint and quickness to run around the opposing OTs rapidly. Evasive/Combo settings are typically more helpful with containing outside rushing as well. Those who use power are looking to engage with the opposing blocker faster to have a faster chance at Spin Cycle or Shed Block to fire for them.
