Anyone ever noticed how much energy the HB loses when he takes the handoff? Why is this an especially tiring activity?

Also, how do you mitigate it? It's not exactly a hard hit, but would toughness work?

Does your QB have the Soft Hand Off SA? Maybe it's knocking the wind out of him? But seriously? Who knows!

It just seems bizarre that the HB gets knocked for as much energy as a tackle...

Yep, probably Leadership/toughness--but at least seems moreso toughness.

Totally speculation based on watching some plays of some QB/HB combinations, but it seems maybe this is based off a roll since it's not always consistent--with the ranges probably relying mostly on these two attributes. On some plays, it's 1 energy. On others, I've seen as much as 5 energy lost just taking the handoff. Seems slightly less on pitches than handoffs.

I agree with GE on this one. To me it seems more of the leadership trait for QB that governs how well he can hand the ball off. I know someone mentioned so it doesn't do it so hard, but whatever the HB is having to use more energy to gather the hand off cause qb didn't put it in the right position, so instead of a botched handoff he's using extra energy to make up for the bad handoff.

The ball is being forcibly jammed into the solar plexus region. Yeah that's it!
