Gold Get Low says the defender is pushed the maximum possible distance. What does this mean?

Would it be the maximum possible distance in a theoretical sense? I.e., if your dot had 100 RBP and the defender had 12 HG.

Or would it be the maximum possible distance your dot is capable of? So then you would still want high RBP to go with that skill?

Anyone seen a big increase in push distance when they took the SA to gold that might indicate the former?

I have it gold on my FB with 85 power. Never seen him push a defender more than a couple yards.

I would imagine that some combination of Run Block Power, Technique, Conditioning, Intimidation, and Toughness (and perhaps other skills), combined with current morale and energy, determines the maximum possible distance for a blocker.

Conversely, some combination of Hold Ground, Conditioning, Intimidation, and Toughness (and perhaps some other skills), combined with current morale and energy, determines a defender's ability to not be pushed back.

When two players are engaged in a blocking interaction, those values are compared based on RNG values to determine the effectiveness of the block. If gold Get Low fires, based on the above assumptions, then the defender's values are ignored (and perhaps the RNG value as well) and the defender is pushed back max distance as defined by the blocker.

As for what max distance is, who knows. I would guess its fairly low and anecdotal evidence like "a couple yards" is the culmination of several favorable rolls by the blocker.

Couple of yards is a long distance to push a defender.

Just golded GL on this OT...

He has 56 power, I always include him on my nightly PUGs. I will post a link to his plays afterwards.

I can't wait to watch my new offense in action. All my Goalline blockers will have Silver Get Low, Gold Pancake Chief and Gold Goalline Blocker with 90+ Run Block Tech and 70+ Run Block Power. Time to move some defenders out of the way!

Sounds great but it would be in your best interest to have Gs at a min 35 speed, OTs min 40 and bTEs min 50 speed. I'm a bigger fan of Pull Specialist than GL blocker.

It's nice to hear some good build info from you though.

I'll have pull specialists too. I'll have a goalline and normal depth chart while running out of goalline about 40% of the time. Its the only way to control the depth chart. So all 9 of my goalline blockers will have those skill/stats.

If you are willing to share, I'd like to find out where you think the competitive advantage is with using the goalline formation so much. Sure, when there were outside runs in goalline playbook you could gash opponents who weren't prepared (heck, even if they were prepared, hence why that was removed from the game). But where is the competitive advantage with the goalline now? It's all inside runs with that one weakside FB run that I've yet to see anyone actually be able to use effectively. I just don't see the point to it now but maybe that's because I'm not using "the force."

For one, I have control over depth chart. My goalline has a different HB, FB, guard and tackle than my regular formation. I sub out a pulling guard and tackle for power blockers. I sub out my fast, blocking HB and FB for my power running HB and power blocking FB.

So I have all power blocking/running players in goalline. Inside 20 yard line tactics I have short run on 100 on 1st and 2nd down. Gold goalline blocker will eventually fire on all my blockers, giving them all +90/85 tech/power +Gold Pancake Chief.

It didn't work well on my current team due to screwed up builds.

If you really understood the inside runs of Goal Line, you'd go Elusive and not Power HB.

Yes, they dink and dunk the blocks much better. Though I have had success in GL with × Hammered × and I am excited about have a super fast blocking HB to keep teams honest with that FB sweep weak out of GL with Full Frontal.
