I'm from Seattle, for those that don't know.

The steady decline of NBA basketball has been pretty well-documented over the past 10 years. Since guys like Magic, Larry, MJ, JoeD, Hakeem, etc. have retired, no one has really stepped up to become the super stars that these guys were. Consumate professionals who were team players, leading teams to NBC championships, and being good role models and citizens for kids, while always respecting the game.

These kids these days, total joke. More interested in their next contract and pts per game than they are about winning. It's deplorable at best, that such a big institution like the NBA would be such a sub-standard product on the floor. I mean come on, LA losing by 40 in the clinching game for the Celts??? Losing by 40 in an NBA finals game?? Gimme a break.

The NBA is a joke, and last night just put the nail in the coffin for me. A team with 41 years of history was sold out by it's local politicians and state legislature, in a game of high stakes poker. Come to find out, Oklahoma was holding Quad Aces while the city of Seattle was playing 3/8 offsuit.

This whole time, I always knew in the back of my mind they (The sonics) would leave. Afterall, we are the city were Boeing was born, and our esteemed council let Boeing corporate go a few years back. How could they let the biggest regional employer move their corporate offices, then turn around and keep an NBA franchise in town?

However, i had held out hope that somehow, someway, something would happen where I would get to continue to watch "My Sonics" play pro basketball now and in the future. Call me hopeless, or better yet, a glutton for punishment.

Anyhow, I needed to rant. I never thought that this wold affect me so much. Afterall, it's just sports right?

But ya, I'm pissed right now. Pissed at the NBA, pissed at our so called local politicians, pissed at our local ownerships groups, pissed at David Stern.

I can see why you would be pissed. Personally I don't like the NBA. Every game I watch they play pretty lazy until the 4th quarter and then step it up at the end. College ball is where it's at. At least those guys want to play.

Thats wild man, sucks to loose a team, sucks more to loose an industry like that. I didn't even know Boeing pulled up stakes there. At the very least the next opposing candidate already has a strong platform to run on, sounds like these guys pulled political suicide.

I agree, but I really don't enjoy any professional sports anymore. College level shows a lot more teamwork and are a lot more fun to watch.

It's a real shame, especially with all of their history. I'm a big Durant fan, so I'll continue to watch them. I assume they'll keep the Sonics name in Seattle like the Browns did (I don't feel like reading the articles on it)?

You'll always have Starbucks Otega.

I agree w/ the current state of the NBA. I grew up watching the same guys at the continuity is not the same. You have guys who plays somewhere for a bit then bounces for more $. The 5 team mega trades, franchise players leaving year after, it sucks.

College hoops isn't that great anymore either. Every one plays for one year and they're done unless they have the luxury of coming from a Tyler Hansborough type of family. I don't blame them for leaving but can't you stay for two seasons at least?

You can be a Trailblazer fan, Otega. I won't say anything.

I would feel sorry for you, but I had Bobcats season tickets for a year. Sometimes I feel like having no team to pull for is worse than having that disappointing product on the floor every night. They have some solid players too, but haven't had a coach with any sense yet. Hopefully Larry Brown can change that...

Blame the guy that owns Starbucks that sold the team, he knew that they were gonna move the team. (Even though he now is trying to sue to stop them from moving to show that he cares) Unfortunately Oklahoma had better attendance when the Bobcats played there.

600 stores is a drop in the bucket for Howard.

But meh, i hardly ever buy coffee from them anyhow. Too expensive, and since i have a younger sister who works for them, i know the markup. People would choke if they ever actually considered how much they pay for a cup of coffe vs. what it costs to make it.

Put it this way, Caffeine should be considered an illegal substance along the lines of cocaine. He makes more than coke dealers do on markup.
