so, I built the player around Power Tackling and ran it up to 90 early in the build, and picked up silver Monster Hit.
I got all the awareness skills up to normal levels, and due to the power focus of the build speed was kept pretty low, and never will really amount to anything... I tested at 35 which is close to max.
35 Conditioning, 50 toughness round out the build for testing purposes.

In 17 games, I compiled...

61 plays, 5 tackles, 1 assist, 1 miss and 1 FF
66 plays, 3 tackles, 3 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
43 plays, 2 tackles, 3 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
34 plays, 5 tackles, 0 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
49 plays, 4 tackles, 1 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
51 plays, 3 tackles, 3 assist, 0 miss and 1 FF
48 plays, 3 tackles, 0 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
69 plays, 8 tackles, 2 assist, 1 miss and 0 FF
49 plays, 1 tackles, 2 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
34 plays, 2 tackles, 0 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
38 plays, 4 tackles, 4 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
52 plays, 5 tackles, 1 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
42 plays, 1 tackles, 0 assist, 1 miss and 0 FF
49 plays, 3 tackles, 2 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
57 plays, 2 tackles, 2 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
62 plays, 2 tackles, 0 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
46 plays, 2 tackles, 2 assist, 0 miss and 0 FF
===============================================

So the grand total is..... fumbles: 2
That's out of 55 Tackles, and 850 plays total.

That seems like a huge waste of SPs as is.

I didn't spend any SPs while testing to keep the results pure, so I'm sitting on a pile of SPs.

For the next batch of games, I'm going to run Tackling Tech up to 60 (which again because of the build is close to max) and not touch anything else.

All the old games have been deleted so anything on the player page is for the Tech testing.

I'm doing an INT CB http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/190833 and just got his first pick with 58 in INT in his 25th game http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/245650.

I'll be able to do something similar to you with holding in SP since i'm just piling on INT for now

Power Tackling does not do much FF without Gold monster hit. It still is great at stopping power backs though

that seems like a small sample size... also how many plays are you in? where are you being lined up? at kickoffs there are 2 or 3 positions that get to the ballcarrier typically before others... etc etc etc

personally, I love power tackling... especially on my Safeties and run-stopping LBs.

I think It's even more important if you run zone D, knocking loose passes caught, and more opportunities at fumbles

At OP, if you wanted to force fumbles, I could have told you that power tackling was a waste.

Power tackling is for stopping power runners.

Contrary to popular belief, it does not help with KL 99% of the time.

What is it then? Combo of Tackle Tech and Power Tackle?

imo, strip tech and only strip tech

what is needed for KLs... my KL CB has has a decent amount of power tackle and strip tech, but he gets the same amount of KLs as my pure cover corners with no power tackling.

I don't know the answer - but my observation is that 'momentum' seems to be key...CB trailing...WR stops for ball...CB crashes into WR at full speed.

Those 'good coverage' catches where the CB and WR are practically on top of each other...and then fall over together -- that never seems to result in a KL.

Agree with steve. It is pretty rare to be in a position to make a KL from a momentum/power angle. Not going to happen enough to invest SP unless you are a zone defense.

If you really want to focus on turn overs, sell out on strip tech.

Right - it's like KL really only happen when you're out of position.

well, i only have 1 pick up player... so yes by default, that's a very small sample.
# of plays is listed
in pick-up games, alignment is random, and there's no real way to control that

the description of Power Tackling says "The ability to stop the slow down, or stop the ball carrier, and even pop the ball loose from powerful tackles." So not only is that not really English, it also appears to be misleading information regarding the whole 'pop the ball loose' thing.

I decided to post it here, and anyone can choose to believe in the information or disregard.

I'd imagine then its a combo of Speed + Power Tackling.

I'm pretty sure speed the missing factor in your build. That seems to have a significant impact on fumbles.

not really Speed, but velocity at impact.

Like I could have 90 speed, but if the LB is coming off a block, or whatever, and isn't running fast at the moment of impact, then no fumble chance.

It's why QBs have so many fumbles. they are standing still and the blitzer comes at them with a head of steam.

Basically what it comes down to is FFs, from power tackling, are situation based. FFs from Strip Tech can happen at any time.

Net result... It's not a good idea to build a Strength/Power based guy if you want to force fumbles.

I'm just going to finish this career tier, and try something else. Yay pick up players
