I understand that its mostly done to manage the cap.
At Vet you can have 2 kickers, your KO guy can be a Sophomore, and still get decent TB numbers, while your FG guy can be Vet and you can save some cap space.
But running through some S*K builds on the Scout Tools virtual player builder it seems like some very nice looking K's can be built with S* and the hit to the cap isn't that much. Even when putting points into KO power you can still hit higher numbers for Kick Accuracy, Kick Consistency, and FG Power than you can with a non S* who's just focused on being a FG kicker while still achieving 80 KO power.
So I ask, why aren't there more S* Kickers? Why are no new teams utilizing them? Especially considering the large gulf between S* and non S* kickers at the seasoned and sophomore level when non S* Kickers pretty much equate to an unfair coin toss for any FG distance?
