I have players on cpu teams that will be signing with human teams for next season.

At least one has already received his offer (which I need to find some things out before I'd accept anyway, but assuming I do)...will his chem next season be worse if I sign now, because he starts at zero? Do I have to wait for the offseason to at least start at 50?

And for the record, I want to express agreement with the vast majority of people who are for de-emphasizing or eliminating chemistry penalties. But given that they exist, what's the best time to sign?

You can sign now if you want - he'll start at 0 chem. But you can always just re-sign the offer in the offseason and it'll automatically bump to 50 chem. So doesn't really matter as long as you sign a contract during the offseason.

Thanks. That's the info I needed.

I'm assuming you're talking about those FA players at the bottom of your player list you just created. I don't think you can't "catch them up" unless they've played one game by season's end. So you should probably put them on a team so they are not one game of XP behind everyone else next season. If you don't want to sign him onto your team - just put him onto a CPU roster and then sign him after Monday's games.

I'm not talking about them. I have some on cpu teams.

But thanks for the warning. I guess I need to just retire those, because I don't know if they have a team to play for, and I've intentionally kept them off any team so that if the owner I've been waiting for a response from doesn't send a contract I can retire them and get my flex back.

But I guess that doesn't work, so I'd better retire them now and he'll have to send me a PM guaranteeing them a slot if he wants them made again.

You can sign now. They just have to be sent a second contract during offseason to bump chem up to 50.
