bug to me. defiantly should have been a fumble. but these are common to see. i have had a game where a player caught a pass and ran 10 yards then it was knocked loose.

Anyways these are just visual representations of what happen behind the scenes. You shouldn't take the visuals too seriously, the text is what matters most of the time.
