(1) Panther League
Clearly the leader with seven threads, but teetering at the top. As of this writing, none of those threads are on their second page and all of them were created by one of two posters (TxSteve or Chris51). Also, there's a lot of weekly threads, so we're looking at an early leap in quantity without the quality to back it up. Look for Panther to take a huge tumble unless other posters pick it up.

(2) Lynx League
Some may think Cougar should be in this spot, but Lynx is showing some early promise. Power rankings and a league newspaper? If Lynx can keep this up, the sky's the limit. Only ding here is that most of the forum work is being done by one poster (namely jhiggseiu14) and he's already had to make a thread pleading for more activity. Without readership, Lynx will never realize its creative potential but at this point, still a dark cat to watch.

(3) Cougar League
An early favorite, but rocked by multi scandal and marred with ill-advised parody threads. There also seems to be a schism forming between players and owners, but the season is still young and hopefully Cougar can recover. Having six total threads looks good on paper, but a closer analysis reveals that a high percentage of those threads were created by outsiders or future permas. Still, with a good mix of posters and two threads already onto their second page, Cougar could be top cat by season's end.

(4) Leopard League
Horrible. Bottom of the pile for a reason.

Man whoever wrote this entirely ignores the talent of the teams in those leagues, the avg rank of teams in those leagues, the number of top teams in each league ... etc. Its either about posts in the league forums or simple the teams/agents the individual likes and/or is familiar with. Here we see some facts that seem to suggest that your rankings are crap.

Avg Team Ranking:
Leopard- 187
Lynx- 194
Cougar- 195
Panther-196

Top 20 Teams:
Leopard- 7
Cougar- 5
Lynx- 4
Panther- 4

Top 10 Teams
Leopard- 4
Cougar- 2
Lynx- 2
Panther- 1

It looks like he is basing his "power rankings" on the amount of thread in the league forum.

uh, wrong. you've got that completely backwards, in fact. read the write-ups and you'll see i'm emphasizing quality over quantity every time.

UPDATED RANKINGS

(1) Panther League
Still on top, Panther is almost cemented as kings of the rookies except for a bit of confusion concerning the amount of overlap between Panther and Leopard. Fun fact, old world Panthers are Leopards and new world Panthers are Jaguars -- and to make matters even more confusing, the Florida Panther is actually a Cougar (though there are no authenticated cases of truly melanistic cougars). Then there's the whole notion of a Black Panther, which is any melanistic Panthera (which includes lions and tigers, oh my), so we won't even go there.

(2) Cougar League
Back in second place, this is where Cougar should've been all along, pre-season rankings be damned. It's tough to argue with four common names (Cougar, Puma, Mountain Lion, and Catamount). And no, I'm not going to get into the whole Catamount-controversy thing. Wikipedia says four and even three is impressive enough. Welcome to second place, Cougar.

(3) Leopard League
Leopards show a great diversity in coat color and rosettes patterns. In general, the coat color varies from pale yellow to deep gold or tawny, and is patterned with black rosettes. The head, lower limbs and belly are spotted with solid black. Coat color and patterning are broadly associated with habitat type. Their rosettes are circular in East Africa but tend to be squarer in southern Africa and larger in Asian populations.

(4) Lynx League
Huge drop for Lynx, but what do you expect when your biggest subspecies is a mere 66 pounds? Wow, so scary. Also, you only have five ladder wins and what, two top-10 teams? Pathetic.
