I've always assumed that that the tactical boxes represented percentages that should equal 100%. I've always entered them so it will equal 100%. But I recently discovered that it will allow me to assign 50 to short 50 to medium and 50 to long 50 to inside run and 50 to outside run. So what am I missing? What happens if my totals exceed 100%? Do those boxes not equate to percentages?

If your totals are more than 100%, the game automatically adjusts those numbers by ratio, so with the above settings (50/50/50/50/50) the game would basically assign an equal 20% chance to each play type.

The game always does that, not just when over 100%.

One more question along those lines.. do the numbers represent plays geared toward said number? Example I have 50 short 25 medium. Does the best play get called for a short pass 50% of the time? I am probably making it way too complicated!!! Below I have settings for an upcoming game, I know that the opponent runs inside a ton.. almost 65 percent of the time.. so I guess my run inside should be 65%. but what in fact does the 65% do? again the play call or the players looking for the inside run? Thanks for any help!!
First Down
Pass Short 25
Pass Med 20
Pass Long 5
Run Inside 75
Run Outside 15
Zone Pct 25
Blitz 75

Play call. With those tactics, on first down, you are going to call one of your run inside plays 31% of the time.

That's the wrong way to think about it, read this for more in-depth stuff:

You're not trying to match the tactics to exactly what your opponent does, that doesn't give your D a boost or anything. All your tactics do is call the plays in your playbook.

Where do you get 31% from? Doesn't it depend on what plays are in each section? For example, if the 2 wide receiver section only contains 43 cover 2 man under and 43 middle overload. What % will middle overload be called? not 31%. My understanding is that it will be called 75/95 or 79%. And then if you have say over will mike blitz and mlb cloud in the 3wr section, over will would be called 25/30 or 83%. Someone correct me if i have this wrong. Also what gets called if i choose 100% inside run and I have no inside runs plays in that section.

Yeah, I was just trying to explain that part of it in simplistic terms. It is more complicated, and it depends on the other settings, and it depends what the offense trots out there, like you said.
But that part basically functions as a simple what probability are you going to use a sub playbook.

Actually it is 54% of the time that inside run will be called on 1st down.
First Down
Pass Short 25
Pass Med 20
Pass Long 5
Run Inside 75
Run Outside 15
Zone Pct 25
Blitz 75
25 + 20 + 5 + 75 + 15 = 140
75/140 = 54%
