Ok. Let's talk watch party -- and let's just be honest.

I know we all greatly appreciate how much work Stobie puts in on our behalf.

What happened with the watch party?

Did you lose interest in watching the games...or what?

I would be interested in watching if it were up and games were selected personally. I'd love to be watching games right now -- I think many guys from Legacy would be watching if they were up.

Next season as well - with my team reset - I know I'd love to be able to watch the games with the guys on my team.

Do you still have interest? What caused it to die out? Speak your mind here and be honest - but don't lose site of the fact that Stobie worked hard on it for us...basically for free since it didn't require a subscription to watch

I am mobile 99% of the time. I can find the time if it is a later game. 6 PM est or later.

Maybe it became to diluted because of all the games...Possibly if we can build up anticipation about it and send reminders to people (text messages?) who request it? I think this game should have something like this integrated into the site. It would bring the excitement level up to 11.

Maybe playoffs only watch parties for now?

Just not emotionally invested anymore. RIF is gone, AR has cut a good portion of my players. The only teams I watch anymore are my HB's team and NBN.

Pretty much this and this is with me having a team in the picture. The games for the most part don't mean anything, we began this season knowing exactly who was going to finish 1 & 2, and we knew exactly who was going to finish 3 & 4 just not the order. The only position that is truely up for grabs is the #5 slot. The off season is more interesting than the actual regular season as far as ladder movements go. On top of that we have the same BS that has plagued us since season 1 in the poor end of Half/Game mechanics, Knocked loose bugs, buggy play calling, etc.

And as Para experienced keeping the stream live all day is hard as hell, but if we started limiting the number of games, could increase anticipation as well less room for error on keeping stream alive.

It's a full time job sadly and for a while it was great, getting up to 20 people in for the biggest games.

Yeah, I really think it's a matter of only focusing on 2-3 games per ladder day. Probably stick to primetime matchups after work hours. I know that means we'll miss some of the best games, but that's more something for Bort and Corndog to work on if they'd like to encourage the community in this way. It'd be better if they can just make sure the best matchups get good timeslots based on some sort of algorithm. Or better yet, put in a voting mechanism into the game where the users can rank the new ladder matchups each off-day and thus determine the scheduling for those primetime games.

Frankly, I just can't be there very often before 8-9pm CST. I've got a family that I favor over GLB2 after work until their bedtimes.

Just not enough interest in the top level games. I would bet there would have been bigger crowds for the rookie tier this season.

I wanted to group up League games by Tier so there would be some natural draw to watch more then one game at a time. I also think then you could have multiple admins - one for each tier responsible for putting on one, two or three games instead of Stobie or Para doing it all day.

What it really shows is a huge opportunity for Bort/Cdog to do more with GLB2. But they aren't.

There still isn't a Ladder game day page on the GLB2 site 18 months after launch. There isn't a replay link page of all the games that people can access easy. The replay system works fine after the game sims, but what we found is that watching the game live with others is a hugely enjoyable event. And there hasn't been ONE change/addition to the GLB2 site to make that more accessible. (That I can think of.). Stobie automated the links into a forum post and then he and Para broadcasted.

Bort/Cdog have the capability and the existing site to make all this happen. It shouldn't be that hard to add, but it's not.

Watch party was THE way to make this community really like an MMO with live social interaction. That's how most MMOs succeed. By building a community.

You know what'd be cool? If instead of the picture on the GLB2 front page, they had games streaming constantly. And a chat box right there on the front page.

Let potential customers see all that activity right there on the login page.

I suppose games don't have to be live. No spoilers when it's live, but grouping them by tier does make a lot of sense.

Obviously at this point I can only control how I use what GLB provides me.

Under the previous setup it was all me making the decision of what game gets shown 'live'.

Just for arguments sake we don't change the time the games are displayed but rather than up to a single person deciding what games to show, if we had a voting system and based on votes that game is the one that displays.

For instance the off days would show the next days ladder games and you would vote. Upon ladder day showing up it would tally votes for each time slot and choose a game with highest votes, and if we have any ties (figure out logic later) but if we have no votes would choose at random a game from that time slot. And keep this logic going, on ladder day it would show the next day's league games for voting. The only day would be up for question is during league day we don't know the next ladder day but we could have a custom requests for games for slots.

So... that was confusing and I don't want to re-write so I will summarize.

Ladder Day you can vote for next days League Games.
League Day you can vote for next days Custom Games.
Off Day you can vote for next days Ladder Games.

Thoughts?

This will keep it fully automated and have a published schedule in advance.
