Did you know that the first second on a play gets counted at tick 11? Clock operators in the booth aren't really quick on the draw in GLB2

You ever notice it's 15 ticks per second after that?

Which means the typical QB in GLB2 has anywhere from 2-3 seconds to get off a pass in a competitive game. They've all got to be Peyton Manning

We can use this knowledge to learn some things about energy for those that don't value it enough.

On this play: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/165129/3081763 Let's look at Tiny Rogers. Tiny's a 100 sprinting, 4.27 second 40 built WR. He's pretty fast. But more importantly, he's got some fairly significant ability to sustain energy in his build. The play above is at the beginning of the 3rd Quarter. Tiny's leveraged the halftime bonus to morale/energy to start the play at 98 energy, 100 morale.

Start at tick 101. We see the clock change here. Now we can observe that he runs almost entirely a straight line to the endzone from this point (after the small angle for the first yard or two of the distance covered).

Conveniently, he's at the 41.5 yard line. By tick 174, he's covered right at 40 yards, give or tack a half a tick. Tick 176 would be 5 seconds. He's basically managed a 4.86 second 40 yard over this distance. His energy goes from 57 to 15 over this distance. (would seem slow, but we're talking fooball speed, not pad-less combine speed, and his energy isn't at 100 for the duration of this run).

Now let's observe tick 71 through tick 142, earlier in the play. He's again covered roughly 40 yards of distance on the field, but a much less straight line. However, he's managed to cover that distance in fewer ticks. He's basically churned out a 4.73 second 40 yard run that wasn't a perfect straight line. His energy started this window at 74, and dropped to 33 by the end of this window. So higher energy overcame the imperfect line to run 40 yards down field over a tenth of a second faster than the first example.

The lesson here for those that weren't aware of it before:

- It's not just about how much energy you have finishing a game. Your energy matters on the very first play of a game for the length of that play. How quickly you're falling from 100 towards 1 on energy will dictate how deep into a specific play you can sustain a high level of play. I used sprinting as my example here, but the same likely applies to pretty much any skill. 90+ caps are cool on primary skills, but if you're cruising with 30 conditioning, they're not going to be nearly so cool when it comes time to actually make that tackle or that deflection with energy that's fallen much lower than the player you're trying to tackle or deflect against.

- Morale supposedly works very similarly. We all start at 50 morale now. This means our players aren't performing up to caps from play 1. How well you can leverage your morale bar to stay on the plus side of 50, and drive your opponent to the minus side of 50, can give you a rather significant advantage. Consider that the next time you elect to toss 5 more points into sprinting or deflection/interception or power tackling instead of 15-20 points in heart, toughness, and intimidation.

You can also watch really closely, and observe your "energy cap" dark blue bar drop during a play. I haven't figured out exactly how or when it drops.

I'm fairly certain it's directly tied to losing "actual" energy during a play. It seems like it consistently will stop falling once you hit 1 energy.

Of course, hitting 1 energy is a bad thing, and you're playing pretty poorly at that point. Sort of a silver lining that you won't lose any more of your cap on that particular play.

Somehow I missed this post, it's quality.

I did notice that when "First Step" fires, your players loses a big chunk of energy.

I really think energy from movement is caused by ground covered, regardless of speed. So when you do it faster, it drops faster.
