So there are 3 skills that play into tackling...power, tech and grip. Strip doesnt affect actually tackling the guy.

There are 2 ways to tackle...power tackle or grip/tech. How does the sim decide which one to use? This is very important because if I want my player to only use power I cannot make him. When I started using SPs I was only pumping power on all my guys. There should be a tactic to set if I want my player to power tackle or tech tackle. Why would my guy use tech if he only has power?

You need all three.

Ha using just one or the other is fail. At this point I'm taking all 4 to around 60 min.

I disagree. The player will either dive at the ball carrier and try to knock him down with a power hit or try to use tech and grip to wrap up, hold on and try to bring him down.

C'mon GE you can't be serious...you ask these questions because you are unsure. You get feed back from vet agents and yet you never want to believe the majority of what they say.

All 3 are used to tackle. Now go build your new team not believing this.

interesting...

I call myself a VET agent as well and also think differently. I think you need Tech to make a clean tackle and at the same time raise power and grip to counter power running...Strip is a completely different, just ff.

so yeah...you need all 3 to tackle good anyway

Well I am resetting and rebuilding with a different philosophy. Instead of all my players only maxing out power tackle, my run stuffers will max out tackle tech and grip while my pass cov players will max out power tackle for KL and FF on weak gripped WRs. They will not touch the opposite skill.

Using either or is just gonna be fail. Unless you are just like a blitz specialist or something.

Tech = tackling roll (yes/no)
Power = tackle break prevention (yes/no), excessive wins in this roll causes FFs
Grip = tackle broken, can you hang on? (yes/no)

In that case it's better to choose either Tech/Power or Tech/Grip instead of trying to do all three.

Not at all. At least not in my experiences.

You overestimate the complexity of the sim

Ok...I can agree with tech + power OR tech + grip....but not all 3 combined. And strip goes with tech + grip + strip for FF chance.

There's no agreement necessary, you're wrong. You need tech, power and grip. If you just go with tech and grip, you're going to get bowled over by every power RB in the game once you hit seasoned. If you just go with tech and power, you'll make more tackles, but if you miss a tackle, you're on your ass. You need all three.
