Allow the QB to throw to other players on screens if the intended target is covered; Or at the very least let him throw it away so he doesn't eat a sack.

Possibly could code in a throw away, but unless all the OL stay behind the LOS you can't throw it downfield on a screen.

Why would the qb throw that away? It was 3 on 1.

just a blown assignment by the OT -- he missed his block which would make it either a missed roll due to OT build (most likely) - or a great pursuit roll

That was more an example of the throw to the TE. But there are screens that are -clearly- blown up. Just chuck it away.

Meh then it becomes an incredibly silly mechanic of decision making where qb's are throwing balls away like crazy. Don't like that at all.

If you're throwing a screen and in a situation where you would call a time out and the WR would fall down to catch the ball, just let the ball go incomplete.

Seems like you just want to screen pass without consequence.

I just want intelligent screen passes.

That's silly though. The hb is always covered. Just a matter of random chance on how it plays out. Like the example you showed I'd be furious to see a throw away without knowing that would be the result.

Here's the reason for the suggestion. The other example I posted was about throwing to the TE when the OL was still in to block because he was let go completely free.

Again your hb is wide open and not even covered. I'd be furious about a throw away.

I guess i'm not being clear enough. Throw the ball to the HB but if he's going to fall down then there's no point in catching it. In that case you should either bat the ball to the ground or have some way to get up that takes less than forever.

Him falling down is a catch roll. The qb doesn't make that decision when throwing the ball.

I agree with this suggestion.
