If you pause at 40 ticks, you can see the offense has 3 extra blockers where the play is going, thanks to a quick pancake by the RT on the SS. So instead of doing anything even remotely useful, they all sprint downfield and circle around a CB already being blocked. Just stand there and take up space, ffs.

Someone has to ask : "How much Lead Awareness these guys have?"

They are sophs..the three have between 20 and 45 lead block. I've just never seen 4 guys surround one defender like that.

Players have a "vision cone" in front of them. They only had one guy in from of them and the play was still developing. In other words the blockers don't have eyes in the back of their heads.

Had the HB broken the LOS they would have most likely picked up the pursuing defenders.

Yeah I get that. I can buy that the LB slipped inside their vision the way it played out.

I just think it's bad logic that they decide to go surround a blocked defender when they can't immediately "see" anyone to block. Maybe lead blockers should be able to tell when a play is still developing and more cautiously advance upfield.

The irony of that play is the immediate pancake that should spring it for a TD probably causes the TFL here.
