Galithor's post here: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/forum/thread/5222930?page=2#48932207 got me thinking about how we could easily slap a ranking together in a rather objective manner (forgetting any kind of voting/nomination type system that's silly and too time consuming). I'm sure people will rip things apart with a 'what about (me) this guy' but it's all fun. Obviously there is added benefit for those who have multiple players, but that's the nature of the game. I'm also INCLUDING the current s9 standings as of my compiling on February 12 at 1:00 PM.

The idea is to rank based on results from the entire set of existing seasons. It's not a competition of a build vs b build and career stats. Time in history is valued here. And no I don't care that your precious player today was disadvantaged because they were birthed in s2 or s3. I also don't care if someone disappeared or chose not to play a season (yeah, take that Romo you pig) This is all charted into excel rather manually, so I don't have time to dissect anything super deep. It's about as unscientific as you can get, lol.

Here's the process used for determination:

1. All rankings are pulled from the Hall of Fame rankings (positional).
2. Points are given for being in the top 5 of a positional category for each season.
3. 5 points for rank 1, 4 points for rank 2, 3 points for rank 3, and so on.

I'm doing these in chunks (Offense, then defense, then special teams) so I'll update this thread as I go. After I'm done, I'll assign 3 points for each #1 ranking, 2 points for #2 ranking and so on using the below to determine the overall best player builders to date. I'll also make the unmessed with spreadsheet available in a Google Doc.

For instance WR's you are classifying screen WR best, to which they are so one dimensional. Impossible to create a list as such due to way certain stats are valued.

Looks like an orgy of season 1 or season 2 builders.

I just pitched an idea like this to stobie - except my thought was to use trophies instead of the HOF.

Still fun though - thanks for the effort romo.

that way if you chose - you could just use trophies from the last 2-3 seasons. Still an unfair advantage to people with lots of players -- and a lot of work to compile

Well 1 and 3 never really ran much screen offense. Mostly getting that off the WR3 noise.

Certainly impossible to create a list though. Especially considering many of these guys might have just been good at one thing. FB (rushing? Receiving? blocking?), TE (receiving? Blocking?), HB (rushing? receiving?), QB (rushing? passing?) etc..

And without any sort of global statistics breakdown per player it is pretty much a crapshoot.

For sure as the HoF is weighted on top tier and thats what the rankings are being pulled from.

Actually it is much more season 3-4 I believe, given that the vast majority of Season 1-2 players/teams are gone or rebuilt.

There's still only so many leagues to get those trophies on. Plus if you can get trophies in several leagues, you're doin' it right.

Trophies seem like the way to go IMO.

I ran with it. Using HoF, as screwy as it is with some positions, removes a bit of the agent player overload that can give them an edge. In the above, while you could certainly have multiple players in the top 5, it's much harder to do than say win a bunch of league trophies with your players all over GLB.

That being said, ^5, we're clearly the bestest player builders.

All updated and spreadsheet is available to skim the players. For positions like WR, guys like whatje are there because they dominated the early seasons...y'all just forgot about them.

i dont really see a point in the methodology you picked

the idea is good but the execution is not, this is really biased both to early dots and to the skewiness of the early ladder bonuses to stats in general

good try though, i can't really think of an a fairer way that isn't unreasonable work for you.
