Perhaps the easiest way (coding wise) to buff D vs. O in general is to start D players at higher than 50 Morale while the O starts at 50.

Since everyone starts at 50 and gravitates to 50, perhaps D should start at 75 and gravitate to 75? It would buff all D against all O.

It wouldn't solve every problem but it's an easy way to buff D vs. O generically.

Why even have morale then?

... Could we at least use heart to weight morale starting location and where it gravitates too?

Heart already reflects the gravitation. Using it to also effect the starting location immediately defeats the point of the system.

I am not even so sure I like the idea of giving the defense that much of a boost either. That would mean they would start out on the first play with the upper hand every single game. That is pretty devastating for anyone with chemistry issues too. I have so far liked the new gravitation mechanic and the shifts both offensively and defensively based on play to play basis honestly.

I wouldn't be opposed to heart letting you start higher than 50, but the gravitate point should stay at 50.

this is just using morale as a fix-all rather than deal with the real problem with real solution:

- add more defensive plays

Yes it is. Use it short term until you can fix other things is my thought. And I totally agree on plays - see my other suggestion.

I don't like it myself but it would buff D. And Chemistry-More and more I believe the user base is moving towards removing it from the game. It really hurts the MMO aspect.

Before buffing defenses further let's look at what happens to overall defensive performance after the latest batch of changes. Will some of these changes be rolled back over the long term? I don't think we want to get too crazy and if the OLine changes stick then the negative impact there will not be fully seen for a few seasons. Rookie teams took a really hard hit here as even teams that are now soph teams mostly pumped block techs hard leaving rookie teams for this season crippled most likely.

supposedly not with the "hidden" adjustment though.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that. As I said in another thread it serves a greater purpose. A similar purpose to that of which Bort took away the Off formation depth charts.

Let's put it this way. A 43 man roster would hold no purpose without a chemistry penalty.

Add an SA that lets you start with +5/+10/+15 bonus to heart, and sets the gravitation point at that level. People that want heart can take it, those that are fine with 50 don't have to.

1:1 ratio heart to starting morale location

1:.7 ratio heart to gravitation point.
