Hi,
I'm looking for advice on my speed receiver build.
Also, any advice on how to reduce the SP cost for Quickness and Sprinting?

You can't change the SP cost of an already created player. You'd have to retire and recreate him. Drop his weight to the minimum possible.

You can change his traits around, such as adding Egotist. However that would make him more expensive and very hard to get his conditioning up to good levels.

Right now his conditioning cap is 40, which is very low for a WR. I suggest trying to increase it if you do remake him.

Or just cap boost conditioning to 55.

Does his extra weight allow him to hit harder and break tackles? Would this guy be better suited as a possession receiver at this point?

If I remake him, can I still do that as a freebie? Or do I only get one freebie in total?

Is cap boost just for Star players?

Tackle Breaking WRs don't really work in GLB. Hell it takes at least 80 power running to really start breaking tackles and that would cripple a WR in other areas.

Yes, you get your free "slot" back.

Nope, every player gets 3 cap boosters first one in Journeyman and the last one at end of Professional.

I retired and remade this player. I don't see an improvement to the cost of speed upgrades even though I reduced his weight. Is this the best I can do on that front?

First, I'd consider going max Height and min Weight. That's 6'6" and 195#. It helps to be tall in the Passing game.

Instead of Soft Hands add Workhorse. Even for Speed Receivers a lot of catches are Catch in Traffic types until Vet when you get elite Speed to really get open. Soft Hands is a negative for that. And you will need Conditioning.

Experiment with dropping Stamina to 1 and then slowly adding that 1 point back. 6 Stamina for 45 Conditioning isn't a great trade-off. 4 or 5 is probably a better spot. Move the Stam point into Confidence as that improves your catching ability. You can probably drop 1 point out of Awareness too. Medium to Deep passes give the WR more time to adjust, so you don't need 80+ Awareness. 70+ should be fine. Also, you don't need 9 Speed. 8 is fine. (with Egotist/Speedster) You're not a Superstar. 8 Speed gets you to 91 Sprinting whereas 9 Speed gets you to 99. If you get 91 Sprinting, you'll be plenty fast and the SP cost to get to 99 is insanely high for a non-S* and cripples your build to do other stuff.

In essence, Workhorse is like adding 1 point to Stam but you get the full benefit of that 1 point. ie 10 points in Conditioning. You're using Salary to buy an Attribute is the way to think about it.

Then you get Cap Boosters which in total add 15 skill points or equiv to 1.5 Attribute points.

So if you're 4 Stam with Workhorse and Cap Boosters, your final Conditioning skill should be 50+.

I made a Mock Build for you here: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/130171

Str: 1 Spd: 7 Agi: 8 Stam: 4 Awr: 7 Conf: 8

Conditioning of 44 can be boosted to 59. That's enough for a non-S* WR.

This build has 84 Sprinting. Think that's not enough? Well one of the top WR in HoF has 80 Sprinting and one has 88 and they are both S*.

Rec Hands: 74 Catch in Traffic: 56 Route Tech: 73 Route Elusive: 75 Route Aware: 72 Route Consistency: 75

Max all Receiving Skills, Max Conditioning with Cap Boosters, get 40+ Heart and then pound Sprinting and Quickness. (Not exactly, but you get the idea.)

Galithor would tell you to get Head Fake Gold, First Step Gold and Prime Time Silver as your SA's. (I believe.)

Pretty much agree with what was just posted. Maybe swap a point or two of agility for more sprinting if you really want that 90+ sprinting.

You should ask adderfist about his build on Joseph Addai, and I think Longhornfan's WR White Lightning is open to look at. Both can give you an idea of what to expect.

Is balance more important to a WR than footwork? I ask cause I thought the other way around lol

I do think you need to pump his hands hard over anything as well. Have to be able to catch the ball

Later on Balance is important. For Rookie it's not. In fact, I'd argue against getting it for Rookie.

The second point is valid. You want to focus on Rec Hands and then CiT. You don't need Route stuff in Rookie, even Soph. Pound those 2 hard and then Rec Grip, Rec Consist and Rec Awareness. You need Catching skills first, then some Physicals and then doing the Routes in Receiving.

Does a speed WR need snap reaction? I'm sure it doesn't matter at my level. I haven't started investing in speed/quick yet either. If snap reaction does matter, when should I start thinking about that?

Yeah, snap reaction is good for speed WRs. Gets you out on your route faster.
