I'm looking at trying to build a new S* DT for rookie in season nine.

Currently I HAVE a S* DT- so obviously I would need to retire him and get the SS point back. So here's my question- I currently have 12 50 point players. If I were to retire my S* DT, and then let the season roll over, would the 11 remaining players add up to a new SS point? Or would he have had to not exist this season for that to work?

In my head it works- but I don't want to risk it without knowing.

You would need to retire your S* BEFORE the last ladder game of the season - play the league title game (if you get to it), then cut the S* that night and retire.

You wold still have 11 tier players, and each would get you 1 point, making a new S* with one extra spot.

But the key is "last ladder game", not "season rollover"

That's perfect. Thanks, Pottsman.

It's a pretty terrible system, being forced to retire players early to not have to wait a season

We didn't make the playoffs, but it still sucked to have to cut him so early.
