Mid-Season Assessment

Southeast Asia

There are genuinely 3 relevant teams in SEA, that’s it. I’ll give OTW a little bit of ‘love’ in that they’re 5-3 and they’re an obvious playoff team but when you’ve lost to two of the three relevant SEA teams, it doesn’t bode well for you.

I fully expect to see a CPW/Arkadak Conference Championship, though Dublin could find themselves in that mix. I must say though, CPW’s loss to Kosovo has me scratching my head to the point of bleeding.

Oceania

Razorback Nation – Clearly the #1 team in the conference, period.

WSR – There is, at this point, a 2 team race for the #2 seed, it’s between WSR & SBD and the determining factor will either be, A) whether or not SBD loses again or B) The season finale matchup between the two teams. WSR is coming off a string of games where they completely routed Austin & Oregon and beat $C$ by 25 points. This season I think it’s fair to say, they’re doing their best to leave nothing to chance.

$in City $yndicate – You only loss was to WSR, not surprising there, you’ve handled all other business, right now, I see $C$ fighting with SBD for the #3 seed, the head to head loss to WSR imo, will be enough to keep you out of the running for the #2 seed. How you do in the upcoming matchup against SBD, may determine your regular season seeding fate.

Stockholm Black Death – Like WSR, you got manhandled against RN, no real surprise there, I don’t think that’s a reflection on the quality of your team but rather a reflection on the quality of theirs. However…what is a reflection on you is your wins over Oregon & Austin. While I understand you beat them both by double digits, forgive me if I’m not convinced on just how well you can match up against some of the other strong teams in the conference… WSR for example, completely destroyed both Austin & Oregon both by more than 35 Points each, they also beat $C$ by 25. “Enough” won’t be enough if you hope to secure the #2 seed.

Hitman’s Crew – I do think there’s a possibility that HC could pull out an upset in the playoffs, simply because I always view that as a possibility, but if their regular season success thus far is any indication of what we’re going to get from them… well.. right now they’re fighting with CFM for the #5 seed and I don’t see any scenario in which that changes any time soon. Your wins over Oregon & Austin were even less convincing than SBD’s. The loss to RN was not surprising but I must say that the double digit loss to $C$, that was and it kind of puts a stamp on what I expect of your season.

Christchurch Fighting Maori – You are where the relevancy stops, not that you’re irrelevant but that you’re the last team that I believe is. The loss to HC..is going to give them the #5 seed unless they lose more games than you obviously. Unlike SBD & HC however, your wins over Oregon and Austin were convincing in fashion…but so was your loss to $C$ and that’s not a good thing for you … at all. I believe you’re capable of pulling off an upset or two like you did in the past, but honestly.. I think a R1 exit is your ceiling.

Anyone not mentioned, I’ve deemed irrelevant; Geelong, BCBC, Oregon, & Austin, specifically. All of you have one major thing in common…glaring losses. I don’t think any of you are good enough this season to beat the Top 4 teams, some of you are likely not even good enough to beat the top 6.

Week 9 Game of the Week

Stockholm Black Death @ $in City $yndicate

There’s a real chance this game determines the # 3 and #4 seed for the Pac-Pro Oceania Playoff bracket. I have some questions about SBD that need to be answered, about just how well they’ll matchup against similar competition. $C$ has given me those same questions however after getting walloped by WSR. The biggest challenge in this game for either team is going to be for SBD protecting the football by not throwing Interceptions and their offensive line protecting the quarterback. For $C$, they might want to have a chit chat with their return man, who seems unable to hold onto the football.

Stockholm gave up points on big turnovers and could not make tackles in key situations. We made it close, but the hole we dug was too deep!

Not much I can do about making tackles, or turning the ball over, so not really, just throwing out shitty excuses for our loss...

Barring a loss, the #1 & #2 seed in the Oceania Conference (and probably SEA) is set.

With SBD's loss, barring any shocking upsets, RN & WSR just clinched the #1 & #2 seed

We're kinda shocked to be in first place, since I've had no active OC or DC all season. Kinda sad, really.

I might convince them to come in and gameplan for playoffs.
