Seriously, why does anyone have their builds closed in this game? It makes sense on GLB1 due to the amount you could do with the AI to target a players specific weaknesses and tagging offensive dots to have specific coverage schemes based on personnel. Why does anyone do it in this game? What are you possibly hiding that will change the other teams game plan at all that they can't simply see by watching replays (which any coordinator is going to do anyways)? The only place where I can see it being an issue would be on the D/O-line due to how much more binary the blockers are in this game then they were in GLB1.

Because it takes too much time to open them up.

This and you can still gameplan based on build.

SS/LOLB build open showing he is a run stopper, I'll run TE passes all game.
DE's are pass rushing with no HG, I'll run Slam plays all game.
DT's/NT's pass rushing with no HG, I'll run Dive plays.
ROLB or LOLB weak tackling, I'll run his side the majority of the game.
etc

Back when I cared, I randomly loaded reversed playbooks all the time to try and exploit this in OCs/DCs or at least to try and not get exploited.

Now that I don't care, it is one playbook and depth chart for everyone.

I've played with every single one of my builds open since season 3 or so. Anything you can pick up from my builds, you can see watching a game or two anyway so I don't see the gameplan thing as a big deal.

Meanwhile, open builds for players on top teams helps the greater game. Newbies who don't know what they're doing can look at someone and see a model to build towards, can see some of their flaws. When someone is wondering if attribute X is useful for role Y, if I have a player like that, I can easily point at them and everyone can see the value.

And despite my team having many open builds (all of mine being open, and DeeVee having most of his players open(not all, he forgot to change some players at creation))) AND a pretty transparent gameplan, we seem to be doing okay.

That's why I opened LZBoys and WH builds.

It took 20-30 seasons to get Bort to make builds open to team members default on GLB..... It's season 8 on GLB.

I do because i run some experimental builds and if they work out i dont want a bunch of copycats running around with my unique build because it worked well for me, people should have to experiment and come up with unique builds themselves not copy someone who had the stones to try something different. I have no issue sharing my boring builds though

Really? Which ones? A mass build view setting would be greatly appreciated.

+1 to OP. Quit acting like you know something everyone else doesn't people!

I just went from working 50 hours a week to unemployed until jan. 15th... I have a lot of free time for now, and just curious about a few things on this game.

You still have to watch replays to see what they actually do with the personnel. What does it matter if the SS is a run stopper if they only run 2 deep, he'll never be one-on-on with the TE anyways. You still have to watch replays, and anything like that will stand out within watching 2 games or so. It really just doesn't matter except on the D/O-line. Even in GLB1 when I was coordinating if I saw an open build it was mostly useless without watching replays. It just really didn't translate at all to the game-plan. Why are Kickers and Punters closed? why are returners closed? Why are HB's and FB's closed? Why are TE's and WR's closed? Why are CB's, LB's, and Safeties closed? D and O-line is the only place where it makes sense because they mostly have the same responsibilities every play. Everywhere else, I just don't get it.

Some early bloomer builds i've made take hours of scrapping players and remaking to try and get the maxes I wanted. So they are mine, all mine!
