Pac-Pro Week 16 Showcase
Southeast Asia
Arkadak Deadliest Warriors @ Malaysian Madness
This is one game this week that does have seeding ramifications. The winner of this game is going to be sitting at #5 and the loser of this game is going to potentially be at #7; I say potentially because if Arkadak loses, they should still be at 6 with a head to head win over CM; however if MM loses, they also have a head to head loss to CM which would allow CM to advance to the 6th seed; this of course all assuming that CM wins their own game this week. Both of these teams just need to show some efficiency with their team; eliminate the turnovers, score points consistently, and eliminate missed tackles. The team that plays the ‘cleaner’ game is going to come out on top.
Prediction: ADW 17-14
Colonial Marines @ OffTopica Word
This game could eliminate some of the seeding complication of the ADW/MM game. If CM loses they will drop to the 8th seed and OTW will advance to the 7th seed. CM has been prone to turning the ball over and not real good on the ground. But then, that explains OTW as well and topped with an onslaught of missed tackles to boot. So really the story of this game to me is who actually establishes a running game.
Prediction: CM 21-20
Shogun Game of the Week
Cult of Personalities, Wu! @ The Dead Presidents
This game changes nothing in the seeding ramifications due to a head to head loss for CPW against PRDM; if not for that factor, it could help boost CPW to #2 in the conference with a win. With a loss, it still changes nothing so this is more about bragging rights. CPW really has never been ‘Out’ of the conversation, however the conference they are in has made it very difficult to get a read on them, their losses happened to come against two competitive teams amidst a slew of really crappy teams getting crushed, which ultimately played part in the ‘doubt’. DP has been monstrous at running the football and shutting down opposing offenses, so much so that they have yet to lose a game. Could this be their first loss? Honestly I doubt it but if anyone can give them a run for their money it’s the team that returned here from WL.
Prediction: Dead Presidents 35-28
Oceania
Oregon Ducks @ Christchurch Fighting Maori
This game has serious implications on the seeding’s, the outcome could really shake up the Conference. Assuming Sumatra wins this week, that puts them at 10-6; $C$ will be at 10-6 after their finale as well. So… With an Oregon win (if my math is right and I have the system down correctly) Sumatra would move to the #6 seed and due to a head to head loss to Oregon but a win over CFM, $C$ would move to the 8th seed, Oregon would take the 7th seed and CFM would drop out of the playoffs completely. With a CFM win, the standings would not change from their current state at all. On the off chance Sumatra lost this week, if Oregon won, they would be able to move up above both $C$ & Sumatra, still eliminating CFM from the playoffs. Bottom line in this game, the only chance CFM has to make the playoffs, despite being in the 6th seed spot right now, is with a win in this game. Oregon is a lot like DP in that they run the ball almost all the time; CFM is a much more balanced team when they can get things rolling and that’s about what it comes down to; which team gets their game plan rolling?
Prediction: Oregon Ducks 14-13
Outback Game of the Week
Razorback Nation @ Williamsport Soul Reavers
RN has been absolutely dominant on every level this season but there has been a few games where despite dominating, they’ve had to scratch out victories, one more than any other; BCBC where RN was held to just 195 passing yards, 0 TDs, & 2 Ints. In that game they also had some guys with a season high (team) missed tackles; but their rushing attack allowed them to hold on and win a 30-24 matchup. This week they’re facing a team that is just hoping RN doesn’t bring their A-Game, just waiting for RN not to take them too seriously. It will have no effect on the seeding at all, this is about pride. For WSR, they’ve had a couple of frustrating losses but over the course of the season, they’ve been a much improved team from every standpoint, especially missed tackles on defense. In this game however, they’re going to have to create some turnovers and give themselves extra opportunities in order to defeat RN.
