As we venture off into the Veteran ranks, I thought we could use a fresh thread to discuss how it's shaking out.

Salty - thoroughly entrenched into the top 10 at this point. Well positioned to make their run. They get to take on Queen City again now, we'll see if Romo shakes up his playcalling to adjust for them this time or not.

Hawaii - Still hanging just outside the top 10. In good shape to start their ascent next season. Get's Monmouth next with a chance to make a move and get themselves into the top 10 this season right now.

Harrisonburg - Has finally climbed into the top 20. Their reward? The always tricky to stop Erkner power running game.

Air Raid - by virtue of blowing a league game to Robot Lords, hasn't quite edged into the top 20 yet. A loss to Harrisonburg puts us where we are for now. Plays a dangerous ladder game against yorick's, where there's not much value in a win, but opportunity to lose considerable ground in a loss.

Glasgow - has slowly but surely edged their way into the top 30 now. Rewarded with a nasty Dakota matchup. Opportunity for a good jump is there!

And that's it. Beyond Glasgow, Minnesota from Journeyman is ranked ahead of the other pro teams at this moment. I expect at least a few other pro teams to continue to climb towards the top 20 next season, but it's going to take them most of the season to do it.

Any word on good pro teams re-setting or folding?

seems like that is where the biggest ladder jumps tend to come from --- from folds

I'd bet a lot of the currently pro teams really jump from vet teams folding.

coincidentally, the veteran free agent market ought to be a sweet owners market this offseason. With the loss of so many pro teams last season, I made a bunch of nice pickups last offseason. Now owners get to shop around through all the guys parking veterans on the sidelines from Season 1 and Season 2

With 89 total pro+veteran teams, how many leagues ya'll thinking? Culling down from 8 to 7 is probably a given I'd think. I'm more inclined to think it drops further to 6 total leagues though. Next season is trickier with the non-career booster teams and players dropping out from the season 1 teams. 6 leagues is probably about right. If you figure Journeyman drops to 3 pro leagues next season, then they've got the potential to add one more total veteran league to 7 after they arrive at the end of next season, depending on how many season 1 teams cull due to not career boosting. 6-7 veteran leagues sounds about right to me a few seasons from now.

While some non-boosters will fall off vet teams, there'll be plenty of veteran free agents this offseason to fill teams back up. Probably again next offseason. Frankly, if you can get a player to vet, even if you can't find a job next season, waiting one more season probably will greatly increase your chance to find a good home with player attrition taking a bigger jump when it comes time to decide whether or not to pay for a career booster on a guy or not.

Figure 11 teams per league...(they always gotta throw the cupcake CPU in there for some reason...) so if 25% reset/fold thats down to about 66-67 teams, so about 6 leagues - best guess. Possibly 7 if less fold/reset, 5 if more do.

They only throw in the cpu teams when necessary.

The aging mechanism being games played vs days old in GLB2 also helps the market, especially as we move through more and more seasons. For example, my WR who I cut for Gart's WR didn't play this year. He can still play next year like he's the age of a Pro turned Vet first season. Or he can sit again and he still has the same amount of life in his blood.

I think it's one of the better changes for GLB2. Your player doesn't immediately become irrelevant if he misses a season or games.

Oh, and Rom_Fox! you and your merry band of artists formerly known as the loungers are going to suffer incredible pain today.

I'm not changing a single thing on offense. Haven't pretty much all season. Stop us if you can

I don't know that we qualify as a good pro team anymore but the odds are against us being around next year (us being the Vase Breakers)
