Could we get a "go for it" on 4th Down tactic for the Offense?

Something with options like:

Distance from opponent EndZone: (in yards)
Distance to First Down: (in yards)
Percentage chance to "go for it" when leading:
Percentage chance to "go for it" when trailing:

I guess we would see A LOT of 4th down conversion attempts. Thats why we dont have something like that.

because its already hard enough for the defense once you get past rookie and soph. the all running teams would be much harder to stop if they were going for it on 4th and 1 all the time.

Agreed, why should we purposefully hamstring the offenses by forcing them to make the statistically wrong decision

If its in the correct situations, so what? Why arbitrarily force teams to punt when they would be better off trying to go for it. The logistics in the default 4th down tactics are dreadful, with almost no consistency or reason to them

I'd be in favor of a 4th down tactic menu, that had something like three settings: Conservative, Average, Aggressive. The actual coordinator can just pick one of those settings, which would lead to somewhat appropriate decisions. Aggressive would still kick more often than some would like, but it would still help in a few of those "dumb" 4th and shorts.

No percentage, no manual control, no special 4th down tactics (keep them as the current 3rd/4th).

I get held to 4th and inches all the time. For some reason I'm always a lot madder about punting it when it is my team that gets held to 4th and inches... I never seem to feel bad for the other team.

If we do this, can I unretire my old running team? Because this is pretty obviously a situation where my HB, who is automatic for 2 yards, would have no problem picking these up every single time.

As great as it sounds to be able to choose to go for it on 4th down whenever you want, I don't think people realize how broken it would get with people never punting.

even as someone who's team would greatly benefit from this, its a horrible idea.

It seems good but when you hold an all rushing team to 9 yards on 3 plays you deserve to get the ball.

This would be a nightmare.

And maybe it's just me, but I've found there to be a lot more practical balance to when teams go for it lately. I'm sure many others experiences would beg to differ, though.

Restrictions should be put in. Like only go for it inside opponents territory, or anywhere late in the game when trailing, etc...

Agree with Galactic Empire. I think some kind of restriction limiting it to being down big would be perfect. If you're down by a lot of points and in short yardage situations it should fire.
