I rarely post here, but games are getting incredibly high scoring across the board this year. Looking at all competitive teams on every level, scores are REALLY starting to trend upward

Similarly matched pass-heavy teams are throwing for 500 or 600 yards, and run heavy teams are putting up almost similar numbers on the ground. I don't think one is necessarily more OP than the other, but I think all offense should be nerfed or all defense buffed.

Am I alone here? GLB 2 seems like it's leaning more toward high scoring video-game like Tecmo Bowl than a somewhat true-to life football simulator.

I have been saying this for a while. Defensive skills need to be cheaper for safeties and lbs at the very least. They have to do too much and the skills are too expensive to have them be able to build to properly to be competent in both passing and rushing defense, especially rushing. You cant outright buff or nerf either. As a buff or nerf will probably destroy balanced teams. We need to find a way to specifically target specialized offenses.

Skills for defenders should be cheaper, or they should get more total SP. There's no reason every position HAS to have 210,000 total SP.

I agree, break run block and hold ground specifically. It's incredibly hard to work them into build plans.

I think the main problem with high scoring is atleast in vet that deep completion is too high. It is high enough that it is an option again to throw deep on every down because youare likely to complete atleast 1/3 and by the end of games when defenders are tired you complete like 50-60% It skews the result late in games for pass-spam-exploiters.

This depends on the defense. I've got games where my QB at Air Raid has had a QB rating from 70-140 this season. Some secondaries are really well built to cover people. even in cover 0 scenarios.

Of course, I can't speak to how well those secondaries hold up against elite rushing attacks when they're holding an elite passing attack down.

i think defense biggest issue is that every team puts almost all their S* on offence

and people are complaining that their non S* got issues fighting against S* players, personally i suspect defense has issues with bad builds and lack of S*

well that's mainly my feel for run defense issue, passing i feel that it's too easy to complete passes you can talk about the % completion number but in many games if you consider how many PD's was made the act of throwing a pass accurate and catching it is high. i get the feeling that you can countet run but pass will always be somewhat effective even on a bad day

Also, there's still the same problem since season 1: It's almost as easy to complete a 35 yards pass into double cover as it is completing a screen.

Pass defense issues are very situational too. You can have badass M2M cornerbacks, but it's not going to do you a hell of alot of good against Air Raid when your LOLB and SS are getting murdered by our receiving TEs. How good a player you got covering specific offensive players matters a whole bunch.

Same deal with run defense. If your DEs are able to secure those TFLs on counters, it helps a whole bunch. If your missing those tackles, or never getting in the backfield, you're boned.

Focused on the Defense for s*'s first. Hasn't helped at all. Something needs to be done because right now a "successful" defense holds the offense to 35 points or less.

well you only focussed on line would you really call that a defense focussed? i think many pass teams would hardly feel that, since sadly a pass focussed line is defending increadible well even though some people would deny it

Even having this discussion without talking about builds is just silly.

In current Vet - I see D line builds with hold ground at 25...I see builds all over with conditioning at 30....I see vet builds with tackling skills all at 35 or less -- and those guys are surprised they can't tackle power backs?? it is insanity.

Sure the game can always use tweaks. Sure some defensive logic needs to be improved. Sure some offensive plays need to be tweaked a little bit.

But if your 100% pass catching (with good speed) TE is dominant against linebackers who are somewhat balanced...or even slightly heavier on the run stuffing skills --- then GOOD....isn't that was is supposed to happen? Sure I'd like to see some defensive plays that will double cover a TE -- and even then the TE is "winning" as if he is occupying 2 defenders there will be a weakness somewhere else.

If I build safeties and cornerbacks built specifically to be run stoppers (I haven't - that would be kind of silly) - I would expect them to get torched by the passing game.

I think eventually the best teams (mine is not built this way) will have at least 1 LB who is fully committed to pass coverage -- and will have some CB's and at least a safety who are pure run stoppers. Players will need to have more conditioning than most people currently put on them -- and there will be a run stopping depth chart and a pass stopping depth chart - and a 'balanced' depth chart...that will be the only way to stop these min/max game plans.

I'm babbling now - but I'm not sure how you can say "nerf offenses and buff defenses" when so much is dependent on individual builds...and play calling - and I'm sure we'd all agree there are a lot of bad builds out there.

I'm personally not saying nerf offenses, i'm saying balance the game so builds matter more.. Right now pass defense is much more about dropped balls and being near someone than it is PD's.

I'd like to see pass blocking O-Line be better, and Run blocking O-Line be worse at pass blocking. I'd like to see a larger difference between points. (one point in catching mean more, one point in tackling mean more, ect) As a way to let our builds essentially mean more.

Right now, builds matter... But it's a coordinators game. I'd like the player building to be fun and make a difference too. If you build someone to do something in particular at the cost of 2 other phases of his game, he damn well better be good at it. You're giving up a lot to make it work.

i just don't think it's possible on this game to be run/pass balanced both offensively and defensively, and still be an elite team

and that bothers me... the best teams are basically all-run or all-pass... build their lines that way and make it borderline impossible to build a defense that can stop both.
