Rookie Ladder Matchups Game 1

25 Games
There are 96 rookie teams. There should be 48 winners and 48 losers after Week 1. Which means that for the first week of Ladder games there should be 48 winners facing off in 24 games.
Since there are 25 games, everyone can easily see that some 1-0 teams are playing 0-1 teams.

So does this mean that the ELO system is broke after just one game???
If so, imagine how broke it is at the top of the Ladder?
Do CPU teams filling up some Leagues cause this problem?
Is the range of 20 teams the reason?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Games listed by time. I'll do write-ups and picks. (watch for edits - final edit: I'm done. whew.)

04: OC Bad-Boys vs. Default Name
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1077/1088
Comment: Both teams played teams with an owner agent but had mostly CPU players. I like Stobie and he should have a good team, but when you only score 3 points against the computer, it doesn't bode well. Still, I didn't look at the roster like I did for the games below so I'm revising my pick to Default Name since Stobie has a full roster and 3 S*. His 10 SHIPs don't hurt either.
Outcome: Default Name wins 24-6; Record 1-0.

04: New Jersey Surge vs. Blue Ridge Moonshine Club
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/274/863
Comment: Both teams basically played CPU teams. Blue Ridge has 3 S* and Surge have 2. Surge have more SHIPs (4 to 1). I was picking Blue Ridge because they scored more but I've changed my mind after further review and I'm going Surge.
Outcome: Blue Ridge wins 7-0; Record 1-1.

05: Iron Brigade Phalanx vs. Allentown Assassins
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1050/1069
Comment: Both teams beat up on mostly CPU teams. Both teams look like they are built for the long-term. IBP has 5 S* and AA has 7. The coaching staff of IBP has 6 SHIPS, while AA has none. I'll go with coaching experience and pick IBP even they though they didn't score much against the computer.
Outcome: Iron Brigade Phalanx wins 49-7; Record 2-1.

06: New England SpyGates vs. Sexy Dance Fighters
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1056/1080
Comment: Another pairing of winning teams that played heavy CPU rosters. SpyGates is a single agent team with 2 S*, but Sexy Dance has coaches with 4 SHIPS and 3 S*. Coaching matters and I'm going Dancing.
Outcome: Sexy Dance Fighters win 35-0; Record 3-1.

07: Live Oak Eagles vs. Fear Factory
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/711/1057
Comment: Live Oak with 7 S* and FF with 6. Live Oak beat up on a CPU team, while FF handled a 2 agent team. Live has 1 SHIP on their staff, while FF has 7. FF has to be the pick here.
Outcome: Fear Factory wins 65-0; Record 4-1.

08: LogZilla Boys vs. Providence Radicals
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/285/397
Comment: PR beat up on a CPU team while the LogZilla Boys (my team) faced an Oklahoma team with 5 S*. Still, PR has 9, yes 9 S* on their roster while the LogZilla Boys only have 2. PR has a great coaching staff with 33, yes 33 SHIPs. I have 6. I'm doomed.
Outcome: LogZilla Boys win 22-7; Record 4-2 (happy to be wrong).

08: Busan Giants vs. Nasty Brigade
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1081/1096
Comment: Nasty Brigade is a one team agent that beat another one team agent. Busan giants is primarily a one team agent but beat a team with 6 S* and 12 SHIPS on the Coaching staff. The pick should be Busan.
Outcome: Nasty Brigade wins 14-10; Record 4-3.

09: Coruscant Imperial Forces vs. Oakland Outlaws
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1070/1091
Comment: Coruscant beat up a mostly CPU team. Oakland is a mostly CPU team that won against an all CPU team. Coruscant has 3 S* and a ZONE complex. He's a man on a mission so the obvious choice is to expect the Empire to crush some rebels/outlaws.
Outcome: Coruscant Imperial Forces win 21-3; Record 5-3.

10: Philadelphia Firefighters vs. Texas Rebellion
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/497/532
Comment: Philadelphia beat a mostly CPU team with 2 S*. Texas won against a mostly CPU team with 2 S*. Texas is a single agent team with 2 S* and Philadelphia is a single agent team with 3 S*. Did ELO get this game right or what??? And how did that happen?? Anyway, since Carl Spackler (of Philadelphia) builds great Safeties and he now has a S* FS, I'm going with him.
Outcome: Philadelphia wins 10-0; Record 6-3.

10: Boston Redcoats vs. PAIN NATION MIDGETS
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1092/9
Comment: Boston destroyed a CPU team. Pain Nation is a now CPU team that lost their first game. Boston has 6 S* and coaches with 7 SHIPS. This may be the easiest pick yet. Vegas can I get odds on this? Bet the house on English muskets.
Outcome: Boston wins 31-3; Record 7-3.

11: Killer Kiwi's vs. Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1049/1084
Comment: Yaksmen beat up a one agent team and Kiwi's destroyed a CPU team. Yaksmen have one S* and a full roster of players from experienced agents, but as coaches no one with a distinguished record and no SHIPS. Kiwi's ha 4 S* and a coaching staff with 3 SHIPS. Kiwi's should win this one.
Outcome: Kiwi's win 55-0; Record 8-3.

12: Missouri Mammoth vs. Trinity Titans
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/974/1063
Comment: Trinity is a one agent team with 2 S* that beat a primarily one agent team with 3 S*. Missouri is a 4 S* team that beat up a CPU team. Trinity's owner has a .500 coaching record with only 32 games under his belt. Missouri has 11 SHIPS on the staff, led by peeti's 9. Go with coaching as I expect the Mammoth's to trample the Titans.
Outcome: Mammoths win 6-0; Record 9-3.

13: Carolina Pirates vs. Las Vegas Outlaws
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1082/58
Comment: Carolina won against a CPU team. Outlaws tied a Tampa team with 6 S* and some experienced coaches. Carolina is loaded with 9, yes another 9 S* team (though with a lot of low contracts). Outlaws are a mostly one agent team with some CPU players. I think the Outlaws got lucky in game 1 of Rookie with some favorable RNG, but won't be able to handle the roster of the Pirates at this point of the season. I'll join the Pirates hoping for some Capt Jack leadership, but wouldn't be surprised if Vegas takes my treasure.
Outcome: Pirates win 10-7; Record 10-3.

13: Sandy Cheeks vs. Inner City Kids
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/356/435
Comment: The Kids ran all over a 7 S* squad. The hot Beach Babes who need my help in brushing off that sand won against a 3 S* roster of 2 coaches who have 4 SHIPS. The Kids have 8 S* and some experienced good records coaches, but no SHIPS. The Babes have 7 S* and coaches with 4 SHIPS. This should be fun to watch with 15 S* on the field. The Babes should have a coaching advantage, but I'm guessing. Still that sand needs brushing and I'm following the Babes down the beach.
Outcome: Sandy Cheeks win 31-3; Record 11-3.

14: UnBoosting Team Of Movie Characters vs. Milwaukee Beers
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/830/1064
Comment: A battle of one team agents. Beers beat a one team agent with 2 S* while the Movie Men beat a CPU team. The Beers have a 3-to-1 advantage in S* and they were in Rookie with me last season. I'm going with my last season's rival Beers to handle the Movie Men.
Outcome: Beers win 30-0; Record 12-3.

15: Sydney Wombats vs. North Texas Mean Greens
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1067/1095
Comment: Sydney is a mostly CPU team that beat a slight less CPU team. North Texas beat a one agent/CPU team. Expect an environmental disaster in the Land Down Under as North Texas 5 S* and 2 SHIPS scorch the habitat of the Wombats.
Outcome: Wombats win 20-14; Record 12-4.

16: Newcastle Butchers vs. Compton Regulators
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/94/382
Comment: Newcastle beat a CPU Sunday Funday (RIP) while Compton beat a mostly one agent team with 5 S*. Newcastle has 4 S* and yet CPU players and extra cap space. Compton has 1 S* and yet some CPU. News Flash guys: Fill your rosters. Ok, Compton has the more experienced agent and I like coaching in these early Rookie games, so Compton it is but don't go to to Vegas with the pick.
Outcome: Newcastle wins 21-14; Record 12-5.

16: Deadly Boomslangs vs. Flying Spaghetti Monsters
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1073/1101
Comment: Deadly beat a CPU team, the Monsters beat a one agent team. Deadly is a contradiction in opposites as they have 8 S* and CPU Players. WTF? The Monsters have 3 S* and mostly player agents, but 3 CPU as well. Guys, there is a forum and marketplace to recruit real players. Both teams have only the owner on the coaching staff and there's a slight edge in games played to the Monsters. This is a "who knows" game. I like Italian on a Saturday night so I'll pray that St. Francis can bless the Monsters enough to pull out a win.
Outcome: Flying Spaghetti Monsters win 10-3; Record 13-5.

17: Death Valley Deadites vs. Tecmo Bowl Legends
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/950/1053
Comment: Tecmo beat a 3 S* team with some CPU and Death Valley beat a one agent team with no coaching experience. Tecmo is guided by a one agent owner with one S* and some CPU dots. Death Valley has 3 S* and what looks like a better coaching staff with 2 SHIPS. Death Valley should win this one if experience counts.
Outcome: Death Valley Deadites win 13-0; Record 14-5.

18: San Franciso 49ers vs. Santa Monica Mayhem
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/673/1003
Comment: Santa Monica beat a 6 S* and CPU team. The 49ers beat a CPU team. Santa Monica has 5 S* and coaches with experience, although it's under .500 experience. The 49ers is a mostly one agent team with some CPU thrown in and is new to coaching in GLB2. I'll go with some experience and S*'s over none and none. Santa Monica wins this West Coast battle.
Outcome: SF 49ers win 3-0; Record 14-6.

18: Louisiana ASSassins vs. Sunday Funday
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1098/36
Comment: Louisiana is a two agent team with 4 S* with a coaching staff that has 6 SHIPS. They beat up a new owner one agent/CPU team. Sunday Funday is a CPU team. It'll be a nice victory party on Bourbon Street Saturday night.
Outcome: LA wins 24-0; Record 15-6.

19: East Coast Badasses vs. Ground Assault
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/375/1046
Comment: East Coast destroyed a CPU team. GA wrecked a mostly CPU team. East Coast has a nice roster of 4 S* and mostly one agent with a plus .500 coaching record and a SHIP. GA has 9 S* (another 9 S* team) and coaches that everyone knows who hold a total of 23 SHIPS. East Coast should be competitive in this tier, but not this week. Find your local NYC bookie and lay big money on overwhelming talent and leadership. GA wins.
Outcome: GA wins 10-6; Record 16-6.

19: Rangers Reborn vs. Rochester Hippos
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1089/1117
Comment: The Phoenix Rangers won against a CPU team, as did the Hippos. The Hippos are practically a CPU team themselves, while the Rangers have 4 S* and a coaching staff with 5 SHIPS. Rangers stalk the Hippos for an easy kill.
Outcome: Rangers win 21-0; Record 17-6.

20: Fort Hood Fierce Cucumbers vs. Eugene Massacre
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1045/1075
Comment: The Fierce Cucumbers beat a true CPU team. The Massacre beat a player/CPU mix that had some inexperienced coaches. The Massacre are themselves a CPU team lead by a paying owner (again, why?). The Fierce Cucumbers have some player builds but are mostly CPU. Guys, we have people begging to get on real teams. Finding them isn't hard. I'll have to pick the Cucumbers, but I won't be surprised if I somehow get food poisoning.
Outcome: Cucumbers win 10-0; Record 18-6.

21: Cleveland Blazers vs. Chesterfield Drunks
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/compare_teams/1044/1058
Comment: Chesterfield beat a mostly CPU roster with 2 S* in a close game. Cleveland won a close one against an almost all CPU team. Chesterfield is run by an agent with 2 higher tier players, yet has no players on his team as it's filled with CPU. Cleveland has what looks like a new agent who has made a bunch of players for his team and attracted a S*. Since Cleveland is actually trying to play/win games, I'll have to go with LeBron's (and my wife's) home sports city.
Outcome: Cleveland wins 17-10; Record 19-6.

It is rather interesting the number of S* players available now for teams. There's several teams now with positively stacked looking rosters.

I've enjoyed reading yours and others (even for tiers I wasn't coaching or had players in), so I decided to contribute.

Plus this tier will be my home for a few seasons.

Elo isn't broken there are just more factors than that. Random selection, it's done by ranking not rating, you can't play someone in your league - it all adds up. It's not a Swiss tournament style matchup, although the first few games of rookie it resembles it.

Darth Sidious walks to the front of the tunnel leading to the football field. The jumbo cam zooms in on him.

"Mahahahahah....so you rebel scum think you can take down the powerful Galactic Emipre?! You don't stand a chance against the mighty Imperial Forces!!!"

The jumbo screen shows clips of Darth Vader knocking out WRs who are going over the middle of the field...and the Stormtroopers blitzing and sacking the QB from the blind side.

"Darth Vader and his troopers will make your pathetic WRs pay a great toll for crossing their paths. Strap on the chip straps, rebel scrum! We have implemented the first successful ZONE defense that will destroy your championship hopes! With my laser like precision, I will pass through your secondary like swiss cheese while Darth Maul will haul in TDs all day long. General Grievous and Count Dooku will run over your weak defensive line and run around your slow DBs.

The Imperial Forces will start off by taking the Beta Division in the Garnet League followed by taking home the Garnet League Championship. Then, when most of the Garnet League teams fold due to humiliation and shame, we will be forced into another league where we will continue our dominance. During this entire time, the Imperial Forces will be moving up the ladder ranks to finally get to their rightful place at the top of the ladder! Bow down to the first Galactic Empire!"

As Darth Sidious starts to walk out of the tunnel towards their sideline, the entire Imperial Forces follow behind him. The jumbo screen starts to play the following videos and the crowd erupts in cheers and applause and screams!

Stopped reading after zone defense.
The confidence is probably unwarranted, but we can use some more characters around here.

not going to be able to keep those S*s in tact tho IMO...gotta make tough financial decisions rather fast with 9 S*s
