I think we had an open chat in GLB1, dont know what happend with that.

The sire that was hosting it wanted too much money, Bort said no, and decided to write in the personal chat feature instead of paying someone to host the chat for him.

So those of us who play the game by ourselves have no friends to chat with?
How about just adding an open chat? It would help in recruiting as well I think, which im having terrible issues with

There wasn't a large community actively using GLB's chat. It was a very niche-y crowd, especially small in chat's final days. I'd hedge it was more time resources than $ resources.

The third party chat provider turned out to have severe security issues. Considering there was about 3-4 regular users of chat, it didn't seem like a worthy goal to make our own.
There wasn't a large community actively using GLB's chat. It was a very niche-y crowd, especially small in chat's final days. I'd hedge it was more time resources than $ resources.
It was neither.

Is there any possibility of looking into alternative options in the future? I'm willing to help in any way I can (which is pretty limited to be honest)
I guess there's a possibility, but considering the lack of usage the old one had, I'd wager it's not likely to be a very high priority.

It used to be pretty awesome then it got over-moderated and it kind of killed the chat.

Have to agree with Adder, it was awesome, until the mods put it on lock down, much like the forums..... lesson learned? Over moderlation kills fun.
