Just wondering, because it's a PITA tbh.
Forum > FAQ's, Player Guides and Game Help > What's the point of forcing players to spend skill points before they can sign an offer?
to avoid a guy being stashed on a bench....and storing up his skill points from rookie - up through veteran --
and then being able to customize his build to whatever is most beneficial in the sim at that time....

Dont the caps prevent you from doing that?

could save cap boosters too -- and SA's.
I'm just giving you the reason - I'm not saying it makes a ton of sense to me personally.
Here is what it avoids though: fill a whole team and don't spend any points (like slow building in GLB1) -
lose every game by a lot for 3-4 seasons.
figure out what is working best -- spend your points - and win a Vet championship

A lot of teams essentially did that in GLB1. (Because slow building was critical in GLB1)

Because you only respec your points from the last season. Sitting on all of your points allows you to game the meta.
If you are really worried about what your OC/DC/Owner wants PM them before assigning.

I now that. But there, it really gave you a higher number of SPs. But with the way skills work in GLB 2 (especially caps), you only get a knowledge advantage. Most players max their important skills by veteran anyway, dont they?
I dont want to start a discussion here about slow building in GLB2 and GLB1. But I think slow building in GLB1 is more worth it, than it would be in GLB2 (even though it is impossible).

Both of these combined is the general reason.
Teams being awful for 4 seasons, and then spend 4 seasons completely changing their builds to accommodate the meta seems pretty harmful.

Some people were ... last thing I want to see is a return of the "Super Slow" Build teams
