This week’s matches
#1 The Boogie Men vs #12 Men Who Herd Cats
Two unbeaten teams meet here, so 1 will no longer be 100% after this. TBM have yet to try and pass the ball and they mix QB and HB runs. They have a mean defense and have only given up 13 points in their first game and have two blowouts in their other 2. MWHC are a pass team that likes to run occasionally. They have given up 21 points but all their win have been comfortable.
Can MWHC find a way to stop TBM run? Or even force them to pass? Magic 8 ball says no. TBM to continue their dominance.
#2 Doinitin Djibouti 2.0 vs #17 Brasil Devilz
DD are undefeated while BD has a losing 1-2 record. DD run a balanced offence, running the ball slightly more than passing. They won their first 2 games by a FG but had a more comfortable win in their last outing and have given up 27 points so far. BD are a passing team that run the ball a little bit. They were well beaten in their first two games, giving up 75 points. They righted the ship last time with a comfortable win keeping their opponents scoreless.
It is hard to see how BD can win here and DD should have a comfortable win.
#3 Doge All Go vs #10 New Jersey Surge
The only top 10 match up this week. DAG lost their last ladder match to DD and NJS are still undefeated. DAG is a passing team and I don’t think they have called a running play so far. Their two wins have been comfortable and they only lost by a FG to DD. However they have given up 67 points so seem to rely on just scoring more points than their opponents. NJS are a balanced team but lean heavily towards the pass. They have won by 3, 6 and 21 given up 28 points so only 1 comfortable win. It seems their defense does just enough to let their offense win.
With 2 passing teams it looks to be a shootout and will really depend on how NJS copes with DAG potent passing. I think DAG will manage to out shoot NJS and win.
#4 Alaskan Assassins vs #16 Vandelay Industries
A rematch from their first ladder match, that AA won comfortably. That loss was VI's only defeat so far and AA are 3-0. AA is a heavy passing team with a token running game. The have had 3 comfortable wins so far, but their victory margin was reduced in each game. Apart from the loss to AA, VI have had 2 comfortable wins. They are also a passing team with slightly more running than AA.
Another passing shootout here, and unless VI have learned a lot from their first defeat, AA should win comfortably.
#5 Run GLB vs #18 Jamaican Thunder
RG lost their first match but have won their last two comfortably while JT are undefeated with 2 comfortable league wins and a 4 point ladder win. After being a rookie running team RG have switched to a balanced team with a passing bias. After their initial loss, RG have improved their defense only giving up a FG in the last two games. JT also run a balanced offense with a passing bias. Their defense has done just enough to allow their offense to win, except their last game which was an easy win.
It looks like RG have worked the kinks out of their passing game and I think they will be too strong for JT.
#6 Dublin Wolfhounds vs #20 Syndicate Legion
DW has won both its ladder games but came out the loser in the ladder shootout with Denver in overtime. After a good week 1 win against RG, SL have dropped their last two, both of them bad losses. DW is a passing team with a token amount of running. They had two comfortable wins and an overtime loss that they had two chances to win. SL is a balanced offensive team with a focus on passing. However their running game is proving to be anemic averaging just over a yard per attempt. SL had a narrow win over RG but have been shown to have a porous defense in their last two game giving up 76 points (and 90 in total so far).
DW bounced back well from their ladder loss while SL didn’t. This should be a comfortable win for DW.
#7 I've Never Had Sex vs #19 Midgar Avalanche
The virgins are undefeated while MA have a winning 2-1 record, losing their ladder game to Convicted. The virgins are a 100% running team with their QB and HB’s sharing the load. All their wins have been comfortable with a dominant D to go with their running and have only given up 16 points so far. MA are also a 100% running team but their QB and two HBs share the load equally. Their wins have been by 10 and 7 points while they were easily beaten in their ladder match so their D is not as dominant as the virgin’s D.
It is hard to see how MA can win this and the virgins should have a comfortable win.
#8 C O N V I C T E D vs #30 Portland Storm
C are undefeated while PS have a losing 1-2 record. C run a pass focus offense with some running to change things up. They have had 3 comfortable wins giving up a total 31 points. So they don’t have a dominant D but do have a dominant O and seem to have got over their end of rookie season slump. PS run a very balanced offense but have given up 44 points in their first two losses though both games were close. They had a comfortable win in their last game.
Given that C have rediscovered their early rookie season form it is hard to see how PS can win here.
#8 Ridiculous Poon Getters vs #23 Rapper's Delight
RPG are undefeated and have yet to give up a point. RD started with 2 comfortable wins, only giving up a FG in each game, but then were easily beaten last time out against VI. RPG are a rushing team with a 2HB and 1FB team with some token passing. The D has kept their opps from scoring so far but only one of their wins was comfortable the other two being 14-0 victories. RD are a passing team with some running by their HB. Their two victories were comfortable but they were comfortably beaten in the third.
RPG should be able to continue their winning ways but can they keep their opps scoreless for the 4th time?
