Ok - see if I can get something minimal up and beat out Stobie!

At a glance - matchups seem kind of lame this week.


#1/93 Stunners vs #94 Calgary Roughnecks - Roughnecks are 0-3 on the year so far. Roughnecks lost to D'Haran 0-21 in a scrim a few days ago. Roughnecks are a Journeyman team. Hopefully the stunners can overcome the point differential.


#2/102 D'Haran Empire vs #116 Little Rock Steel - Steel have an inactive owner - are 0-3 in their 3 games this season. Have not run a scrimmage and have been outscored 6-166 this season. Enjoy your bye week, D'Haran.


#3/105 Philadelphia Continentals vs #16/125 Eastern European Alliance - Big spread here. EEA just lost to the stunners in league play -- but they did put up 30 something points on me (I think). EEA also lost to another Adams Beta team: LuLinks. Continentals at #3 are probably at their highest point in the ladder. Philly has played some close games winning by 6 over Paris and by 1 over Rare Breed (also an adams team). This has the potential to be a lot closer than you would normally expect a #3 vs #16 game to be.


#4/106 Victorious Secret vs #13/120 Pawnee Goddesses (another Adams team!) - Victorious has stumbled a little this season so far - they got an awful draw last ladder match - losing to a team that would probably beat any seasoned team -- and they lost in a heart breaker in league play against Texas A&M after leading the entire game...falling behind with 2 minutes to go -- and then missing the game winning field goal in the final seconds (stupid kickers). I think Victorious gets back on track here against Pawnee.


#5/108 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs #101 New Albany Ants - Let's see - New Albany is a Journeyman team who just blew out Falkirk. Falkirk just beat (though it was close) Drinkin in a ladder mismatch last week. As much as I like Nebraska and their owner Viper -- I'm afraid New Albany is the favorite here by 14 points or so.


#6/110 Alpine Affineurs (what is an affineur? I don't feel like googling) vs #94 Philadelphia Firefighters - Well - Alpine just lost to the firefighters in a scrim that the firefighters initiated 3 days ago 40-34. I predict Alpine takes what they learned there...and wins this one - upsetting the journeyman team.


#7/112 Rhode Island Falcons vs #18/129 MMArmy Can Crushers - another pretty wide spread. I predict Rhode Island wins by 12


#8/113 Gatling Valley Pirates vs #94 Chicago Whodats - I think Gatling can upset the journeyman here


#9/113 Tampa Bay Tusken Raiders vs #21/133 Fully Rekt - Is fully rekt a new team or just a new team name? I'll go out on a limb and predict a huge upset of #21 over #9 here.


#10/115 Compton Con Men vs #129 Woodland Warriors - Compton wins by 17

My thoughts on the games.

#1/93 Stunners vs #94 Calgary Roughnecks - Stunners with their run game will manage the point differential and win by 10+ in this one.


#2/102 D'Haran Empire vs #116 Little Rock Steel - Essentially a bye week as Steve mentioned. I think they should go all out and show all the gameplans in this one!


#3/105 Philadelphia Continentals vs #16/125 Eastern European Alliance - Continentals are having some early chemistry issues and I would believe if they stick to their strengths the will squeak out another victory. But I don't believe that they will do that, and they will let the pressure of being #3 get to them a little and will cause them to change some things up which will put them behind and lose a close one.


#4/106 Victorious Secret vs #13/120 Pawnee Goddesses (another Adams team!) - I think Victorious is fiddling a little with their gameplans and causing some undue stress on themselves. I have to think they are getting things dialed in and will be 'Victorious' in this matchup.


#5/108 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs #101 New Albany Ants - I agree with Steve's assessment and didn't feel like rewording it


#6/110 Alpine Affineurs (Alpine Cheese Men) vs #94 Philadelphia Firefighters - With some history of their big brother Alpine in mind, I have first hand knowledge they are not taking this season serious. Philadelphia in their most recent scrim will make changes where I do not believe Alpine will. Firefighters should win this one.


#7/112 Rhode Island Falcons vs #18/129 MMArmy Can Crushers - Falcons will poop on the Can Crushers as they swoop by them and win the game.


#8/113 Gatling Valley Pirates vs #94 Chicago Whodats - I am going with the Whodats in this one, they recently lost to a Pro level team by 7 and just in the mix of signing a new DC. Gatling I think will struggle with keeping up with the skill difference and then if the new DC implements it will be a game that Gatling doesn't know is coming. Whodats by 10+.


#9/113 Tampa Bay Tusken Raiders vs #21/133 Fully Rekt - I have dealt with Fully Rekt in the past and they are not fun to play. Tampa tends to be a more spread team where Fully Rekt stats aside have been dominating in the pass rush. Should be a close one, but I am going for Fully Rekt in this one.


#10/115 Compton Con Men vs #129 Woodland Warriors - Agree with Steve here but think by 10.

I agree that things are very dicey for the Continentals - no doubt the chem issues are hitting the team hard. It's not a matter of if we lose a game to an opponent, but when.

thanks for the write-ups you 2! Huge to keep activity levels and interest up. I think GLB should actually have a MOD or someone do this for each level, it would guarantee more activity levels.

haha yeah, I meant as their job/responsibility to do a little write-up of either the league matchups weekly, or a top 10 ladder matchup, whatever it is, something to keep forum activity high and growing

OK - A new week - some new matchups. These games occur 7/15/14

#1 (91) Minnesota Stunners vs #82 Sandy Cheeks - Sandy Cheeks seem to have had a tough road so far this season going 1-4. They lost to Harrisonburg by only 6 points - the proceeded to add losses of 10, 1 and 14. Seems to be a team much better than their record would indicate at this stage of the season. Definitely a tough matchup for the Stunners playing 10 spots up against a journeyman team.


#2 (102) Philadelphia Continentals vs #102 Cleveland Piranhas - Congratulations Philly for making it to the #2 spot! Nice work. One team here is rocketing up the charts. The other is falling down the ranks like a feather. Continentals continue their winning ways with a 14+ point win.


#3 (104) Victorious Secret vs #121 Jacksonville Bikaben - VS has had a tough start to the year; going 3-2 with losses vs Texas aTm and the Richmond Redskins (journeyman). Jacksonville is fresh off a thumping of Muttley's inactive Denver Stallions (what happened to muttley?). I think Victorious pulls off the win here -- but it could be close. VS by 5


#4 (105) D'Haran vs #15 (123) Pawnee Goddesses - D'Haran is fresh off a stunning league loss to the Stark Dire Wolves (7-20). Pawnee is 2-3 and must have some kind of a magic "match me versus the top 5" ladder card they are playing as they lost to VS last round. Pawnee keeps getting their shot against top competition but so far have been unable to get over the hump. I think D'Harans running game will be too much here - even if Pawnee dissects that Stark game and recreates it as best as is possible. D'Haran by 14


#5 (107) Nebraska Cornhuskers vs #94 Michigan Madness - Nebraska is 0-2 vs Journeyman teams in the ladder this season. At 4-1 Michigan does not appear to be a journeyman team on auto pilot --- they are a Michigan team that seems to be clicking on more cylinders than they have in the past....looks to be a tough game for Nebraska as I predict Michigan wins by 10


#6 (110) Tampa Bay Tusken Raiders vs #100 Philadelphia Firefighters - Firefighters just beat Alpine 21-24. This one looks like a good opportunity for TB to beat a team 10 spots ahead and make some ladder progress (maybe 5 spots?). TB wins 24-21


#7 (110) Alpine Affineurs vs #17 (126) MMArmy Can Crushers - somebody (stobie?) said in the thread previously that Alpine was on auto pilot this season - not taking things too seriously and not putting in much time. MMA on the other hand seems to be FOCUSED. 5.0 on the season - with their signature win being a 12-6 win over Rhode Island last round. This one seems like a great opportunity for MMA to make some ladder progress. Can the coaches get the job done vs a coasting Alpine? They certainly should be able to. MMA wins by 7


#8 (112) Compton Con Men vs #130 Woodland Warriors - Basically a free game for Compton. Don't spend too much time....but don't screw it up either! Compton wins by 11


#9 (113) Drinkin Hellraisers vs #19 (131) Stark Dire Wolves - As mentioned above - Stark is fresh off of a great win over D'Haran. They also have losses to Rhode Island and Paris though. At 4-1 Drinkin has been playing quite well. 1-1 vs Journeyman teams and 3-0 in the league. Was Starks D'haran win a flash in the pan...or the sign of the kind of effort the coaching staff will be putting in from here on out? I think the coaching of Drinkin proves to be too much to overcome - and Drinkin stays in the top 10 and wins by 12


#10 (114) Rhode Island Falcons vs #133 Fart Wafting Hundredairs - FWH is inactive and 5-0 and has been outscored 10-225. Rhode Island wins by 20

Yikes. I am a fan of the new ladder system - because this will sort itself out as we go forward (eventually) if good teams keep winning and bad teams keep losing. BUT - this is going to be EVEN WORSE in seasoned next season -- since all the sophomores will be corralled in the ladder since they can now only play each other....

OH COME ON. FWH is now active again. I always get the teams up a level after they're no longer inactive.
