I just got a rookie team and when I try to sign free agents it tells me I have no cap space when I do. Is this common?

You have cap space, is it telling you you are not signing players of the right level? Please read it carefully, Rookies have to have ZERO experience IE never have played in a game.

I'm trying to sign rookies with no experience but it tells me I don't have the cap space when I do.

Make sure you have "replace cpu player" checked.

Yeah just cut all the CPU players till you get to 36..then you cannot cut any, until you sign someone new.

yeah if you are using the marketplace it is super tricky because it will give you a bunch of players who are not actually rookies because they played in games already. Yet they show up even if you filter by level 0 to level 0. If you click on the player and they have stats/games played at the bottom of their page, it means they are not really rookies. I usually start at the bottom of the page and work my way up when I search Marketplace.
