I have seen 3 stiff arm TD's 50+ yarders from WR's this season. If that sucks well then idk?

Slot Machine must not be working because its obviously one of the greatest SA's on the board.

The only thing that really bugs me about SA's is how much dumb overlap there is

Hometown Hero + Road Warrior = really dont know why this needed to be two skills other than to seem like there are more
Power Through + YAC Attack = made it a tiny bit shiitier on a more restrictive condition to justify just letting people double up on it
Chase Down + Closing Speed = thank god one gives coverage tech, totally changes the dynamic

Otherwise I feel like some SA's, especially defensive ones, seem like feasible ideas on paper when examined alone but compared to certain abilities become virtually impossible to justify. Spin Cycle is the biggest criminal in the game with this category. Giving a pass rusher an "ignore the blocker for free" ability sucks all the interesting decision-making out of the game that they are trying to encourage with, say, Monster Hit or Opportunist on a DE.

I really would have liked to see VA's come back in this game, especially in more of a Talent Tree form than more Special Abilities where you had more control over your success rates in even more specific situations (or in general really). By the time Sophomore is over I feel like all the exciting player development I will do is finished. After that if I'm trying to push a primary or #2/#3 stat I'm looking at maybe ~10-15 points in improvement over the entire season.

Except they fire in completely different situations.

It would be even worse if the only choices were "always go faster" and "always hit harder".

It's not about them firing in different situations it's about them doing the same thing.

Why not just make Chase Down one skill that doesn't affect passing QB's (since neither does anyway)? Does it really become so broken as "chance of speed increase when trailing 6~ yards from non-passing player" that it needed to be split up? Even combined it's still not close to being worth it as a 1st SA or even a 2nd. If you released the data on which SA's CB's had at 2 stars or higher it would probably be 40% OaI and 40% TdS with specialties like Showboat and Monster Hit occupying the remainder. This wouldn't even be that bad if it was an isolated incident, but nearly every position has this problem of some SA choices being so overwhelming that other interesting but ultimately lesser options go ignored.

Except no CB is even thinking about that choice because you've forced their hand anyway lol.

Coverage Commander on kickers.

Closing Speed on kickers.

Pretty much every SA for kickers, tbh.

Might as well give us SAs that only activate in the X quarter. First Quarter kicker: Your kicker, who frequently misses from 33 yards in every other quarter, will now hit FGs from under 30 yards 100% of the time in the first quarter. Silver: 35 yards. Gold: 40 yards. Again, this SA only works in the first quarter, your kicker will continue to shit the bed in the other three quarters.

Go fix Coverage Commander on kickers or at least bring it up at the meeting with Bort. Be all like, "you know Bort, Coverage Commander has never worked on kickers, but we continue to offer it as an SA selection for kickers."

It could be the same conversation as, "you know Bort, Closing Speed doesn't work on special teams, but we continue to offer it as an SA selection for kickers."

First I've heard of it. I've had it on my kicker since S1 and I've never seen it fire.

You will admit that Closing Speed doesn't work on STs though?

As far as hth and rw are concerned they should give the same weight for each but in no way should they be together. That is a hefty bonus hth gives.
