So is there a place to talk about coaching/GM/Owner stuff? I'm fairly new, have players going this season but really would like to get in on a coaching gig even if just an assistant to see the ins and outs of that end before picking up a team of my own next season.

Don't do it. Most private forums die out, and even in network forums, people basically have given up on discussing this game. You just typically run the same 4 or 5 plays on offense and defense. All you need to do is adjust your tactics for your opponent and keep up with patches that change the flavor of the month trends. GLB2 is hard.

That's a great quote, did you come up with that or did someone say that before?

What then for the new players and fresh blood that want to catch up on what those 4-5 plays are and where the trends are heading? I think people inevitably lose interest in the game, but new people come in regularly too and it can balance out if there's resources for those new players to get the resources and information they need if they're willing to spend time learning. That's what you need to maintain a good community. Without those resources, motivated new players are less likely to figure out how best to do things and never make it to that next level.

I think that highlights the importance of a farm system for Pro teams, not just from the classic player replacement perspective, but also from the coaching perspective to keep fresh people coming in to fight the apathy of the old guard.
