Are you telling me 4 seasons and nobody has went to make yet another ladder thread and thought "there must be a better way"

They all just end up for the most part talking generically about the tier anyway

I wanted to be able to skim through discussion on Journeyman this season and then I realized I would have to go through 20 seperate threads to do it.

Just make one thread in the preseason and put all your ladder breakdowns or rankings or "cdog fucked sophmore cb's" or whatever in there

this is not a suggestion because this is entirely within our power as intelligent creatures

team pls

---

OP makes thread called "Rookie"
People talk about Rookie in Rookie thread
Somebody makes Rookie Ladder Breakdown and posts it in thread
People talk about it
OP is a nice guy and puts a link to the breakdown in the op
Cycle continues until end of season
There is now a nice list of breakdowns of the tier and one thread of discussion to reference
???
Profit

while It sounds like a good idea its not much better. Instead you have 4 total threads who are about 48 pages long by the end of a season and If you want to find a specific match up you cant because you'd have to basically reset the original post every set of ladder games

Just post a new breakdown when you want in the thread and it will sort itself. There are only 15 ladder games. Even in a 40 page thread you're talking a game every 2-4 pages which is not that hard to find.

And I don't think any real subset of the population is going back to read the breakdown of their 4th ladder game at the end of the season.

There is just so much discussion around age groups that gets segregated between breakdown threads, the suggestion forum, and random new player questions that end up having something specific to do with a tier that it becomes impossible to find any consistent line of discussion or place to ask a broader question regarding said tier.

I just don't see why all the discussion in one place is harder to sort through than the information in two dozen places.

well it would help if all Teir disccusions had their own thread instead of bumming off Ladder threads. If we consolidated ladder threads to ladder talk it would be much easier to deal with the multiple threads and the information for each teir would be in its own single thread.

There aren't that many new threads. Four ladder threads every 3 days is nothing to complain about. If you can't skip past that, then I don't know what to tell you. Seems very petty to complain about.

When it's done your way, Laggo, you end up with one hundred page long thread, which makes it hard to know when the new breakdowns are posted (especially if the breakdown is the last post on page 53, and you just click the "Last" button, going directly to the current conversation on page 54). Separate threads are much easier to navigate than massive page numbers - a forum I used to be on had a 10 page policy, even, where every thread got autolocked if it hit 10 pages, it was then followed up with a "part 2" or so. Annoying at the actual break point, but much easier to stay up to date on.

yeah god forbid you see people talking about them and have to press the back button

That's 28 threads every 3 weeks which is insane when you are talking about four distinct topics. What happens when we have Professional and Veteran tiers? 12-14 threads a week? 90 threads a season talking about the same thing? Come on now.

I think you guys are really overstating how much discussion there is and how "difficult" it would be to find what you were looking for. It's not as if when the new ladder schedule is posted people are going to be talking intensely about the ladder match two days ago. And even if somebody is, there would be more people looking for the exact same content as you.

Maybe the alternative is a ladder talk subforum, but the real problem I have with this format is putting all the discussion in 30 different places that nobody is ever going to want to sort through and thus will be lost forever. If I want to see what Journeyman was like at the beginning of this year, the middle of the year, and the end of the year - it's pretty much a crapshoot. I'd have to guess at what section of the main GLB forum corresponds to the beginning of the season (it's about 3-4 pages a season and 80% of that is ladder posts clogging the board up). I'd click on random ladder talk threads of anywhere from 7-30 posts (still multiple pages at times so I dunno why people say it's easier to read), and there would be no continuity and the idea of a discussion forming is impossible.

Am I crazy to think that clicking a "Seasoned" thread when the ladder games are posted, reading what people are talking about (... no surprise if you said the ladder matchups) and perhaps clicking a different page if necessary is no harder than clicking a "Ladder Talk 2974927" thread, reading what people are talking about, and perhaps continuing the conversation on the next page.

If you want, some do-gooder could even offer to be OP of the thread and update the main page with links to any new writeup in the middle so that the entire thread could later be sorted through easily.

I mean seriously, it's not "harder" and it's better for everyone in the future. Making a new thread every 2 days to talk about the same thing is not sustainable and just makes everything harder to find.

Who goes back and reads old ladder discussion? This idea makes no sense to me.

I too dislike the clusterphuq of threads and when we get the fifth tier it'll be even worse. Can you imagine if the main forum was littered with random threads also?

I think a ladder forum is the way to go, with 5 tier corresponding subforums.

I think we need a Xav specific forum so I don't have to go through all his posts.

Me either.

I'd just be happy if everyone stuck to the same format for the ladder thread titles. Peeti's European dates make my head hurt.

A lot of suggestions by people who don't do write-ups at all...there is a way you guys could make these suggestions happen.
