This relates to a conversation we were having about how a D-line deflect build with a ton of vertical didn't work.

My assertion was that you didn't need vertical, you just needed to be tall, strong, and have good pass rush deflect skills.

Too much deflect, not enough other stuff. You aren't going to get the deflection if you aren't winning the battle in the trenches. imo.

I haven't even begun investing in it yet. No one throws the ball.

I have 0 points in deflection and my DT has 6 PDs over four seasons. Doesn't seem like an attribute worth investing in.
