If you don't care about the game - this game is tons of fun and will be for a long time
If you kind of care about the game - It's fun as long as you never watch a game and never run a team
If you care about the game - this game is insanely frustrating and you will wonder why you care so much on a regular basis

I almost had a mental meltdown after the last second loss today in our #1/#2 ladder game... then I realized this is a game

There are a couple frustrating things within the game but it certainly isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The replays aren't even half bad anymore now that I have gotten used to watching them.

One thing I do kinda like is that while there are certain plays that are better than others, people seem to use a wide variety of things when I am scouting them which is kinda fun. Not everyone is just slamming Big I pitches down my throat until I concede a TD.
And for those that do run that approach, they get their asses fully handed to them.

This is probably because script scouting hasn't really caught on to the masses yet and those that do use it and have figured out what is effective (like those rookie QB sweep teams) are keeping it to themselves.
As more people start using it and recognize when teams that beat them by 14 are running random pass plays and people that beat them by 50 are running one QB sweep for 15 ypc and people start making more threads about it it will get worse.
I also think there is a lot of broken stuff in this game that you can't really just pick up rando players and implement. I think blitzer CB's with 3 star first step and only sprinting/quickness (and I mean pretty much ONLY, not even pass rush technique) with LB's that are basically CB's is one that is criminally under experimented.
Maybe I should start my own team.
Oh wait, I did that in GLB1 and I spent 8 hours a day in the offseason recruiting. Nevermind.

The farther you get up the ladder of tiers the more plays open up in the playbook as useful. In rookie ya those QB sweeps are pretty bomb but they are a wet fart as defenders acquire the skills to recognize them. Pass plays really start opening up down the line. Half the plays I am using right now I wouldn't dare use in rookie for I would be sacked over and over. That gets to be less and less a worry as we get further towards Veteran Tier.

Talking about GLB1 and the Big I formation Pitch abuse that has driven me to not really care anymore over there.

There are better ways to enjoy your day.
The complaints that people had about the player builder being too simple are pretty true imo. There needs to be better customization in the builds. At this point, it is pretty much all a GMs game. Obviously you have to have the right builds in the right places on the depth chart to make the game plan function. Because of this, the fact that the GMs don't have access to the same tools as they had in GLB1 is actually more frustrating than I originally thought.
It is like Pee Wee in my experience. Just like how in Pee Wee you had to "trick" your dots into being in the right place to make the play, I find the same is true with the playbooks and the bots in GLB2.
You can't choose a playbook for 3rd down plays in GLB2... except that you can if you trick the system (for passing plays). Just throw whatever passes you want into the Very Long pass playbook and only call the Very Long playbook in those situations (even if every play in the Very Long playbook is actually short passing routes).
The whole game is set up to be "casual", but only the players who spend a lot of time abusing the holes in the system will eventually be on top.
As far as defense, I guess I'm not the one to ask, but the fact that your D options do not reflect the O options is a pretty big problem imo. Again, it is all about choosing plays and then tricking your AI into calling the play that you want in the situation that you want it. This is a product of the default "zone" and "blitz" labeling system that they went with.
The player builder is bland, especially so once you get out of rookie and you get to add one or two points to your skills every few days. The number of options for adding skills is great, if more of them actually impacted the play. You can have 100 points into the various awareness skills, but your CB still looks like a lost puppy. This is a big problem, because for other skills there is a big difference between 50 and 100 points (like power tackling for instance). The limited number of APs that you get is fantastic, if there were more than a handful of good choices available. The usual response is to just nerf whatever works instead of making other abilities work and give players a variety of build options. This is beta, let's break the game a bit more by adding new features and finding balance that way rather than taking away existing features. Eventually the only difference between builds will be caps and SA choices, and in most cases those are only going to be minor. After two seasons, building becomes a chore when you don't see your player improving.

This rant isn't an excuse for losing. We are all operating under the same sim and the people who put in the work are getting the wins. The problem is the sim issues that are widely noted in the bugs thread and which have been reported in main for months. GLB took years to get this stale.
