So there is a setting for Safe FG Range and there is a setting for Max FG Range. When the distance falls between these two values, does anyone have an idea on what determines whether a FG, a punt or a go for it on 4th down is attempted?

I ask because in our ladder game today we had the ball on the opponents 27 in OT and we punted on 4th down. Granted, the odds are against our kicker making a 44 yard attempt but still it was between the Safe and Max range. Why wouldn't it at least try it in this situation?

I am stumped.

Had the same issue with my rookie team, our team punting when we're on our own 20 despite safe range being from 45 and in. Could just be a glitch in the matrix.

Is it to do with his heart maybe?

No I think it's just a bug in the tactics.

The last play he was involved in during the game he was at 96 Morale so I don't think that played into it.

I often find that when a FG falls between the safe and Max range it is almost always a punt. So I would think you might need to increase the safe range. It's really frustrating when you get that close and then just punt the ball into the end zone for a 7 yard difference in field position.

Agreed. Max range 50 seems to work fine, especially at rookie level.

Make sure you put an AP in "Laces Out".

Is this a setting on the player tactics or in the team tactics?
