I ask because in my rookie team's game today, we beat the hell out of their QB (zone defense ftw!) for almost three full quarters. But not long after we had a 28 point lead, that QB with almost no morale or stamina suddenly turned into Zorp's Yukiko and marched his team down the field that ended with a diving catch in the endzone.

This isn't the first time I've noticed that teams seem to get a boost based on score. Now, it's not enough to make a CPU or inactive team suddenly dangerous, but it is enough to 'fix' a good team that just happens to be losing badly.

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing, or is this just too small a sample size or confirmation bias on my part?

It only takes a couple plays to turn morale around entirely.

That's the thing that really caught me tho. They didn't. You should have been able to just stick in a fork in 'em. They were done.

Here's the play.

QB is at 9/11. The entire offensive line is just as bad. That's what they looked like the entire drive.

I can even understand why Bort/Corndog would want that. If a player is active and trying, you don't want them losing by 40-50 points or more every week, and just giving teams a boost when they're way behind isn't likely to change the outcome of the game either. It's just going to soften the blow a bit and perhaps keep the player playing.

Again, this isn't the only time I've noticed it, but my observations would be a fairly small sample.

I don't ever take those numbers to heart. Even in GLB1, you can be just beating a team down and then they get a lucky play here and there in a drive and suddenly its like nothing mattered prior to that point. Which you could say is sort of realistic but also frustrating when you work so hard to put them in that position and all of a sudden they have life.

something like

if (Abs(TeamHomeScore - TeamawayScore) > 40)
if TeamHomeScore<TeamawayScore
for(N = 1:1:numberTeamHome)
Heart [PlayersTeamHome [N]] = Heart [PlayersTeamHome [N]] + 10;

this?

Come on. What makes you think that Bort and Corndog would care about that kind of stuff at all? They should be busy enough with fixing bugs.

yea, the morale and energy gain from a few plays after being really low shouldn't be as much as it is... agreed

I beat down DD's team in ladder play at the end of last season. I don't think there is any catch-up help.

Ya. Like I said, could just be confirmation bias on my part.

side note: Have you ever put up more than 660 yards on a good team? A big chunk of Yorick's offense was pretty blatantly stolen from you, and I want an idea of what to expect.
