So my question is if we should be focusing solely on one over the other for our lineman, or having a combination of lets say, pass block tequ and pass block power?

Are these 2 seperate attributes that different builds should go for?

Is 70 pass rush tequ and 10 pass rush power better than 40 pass rush tequ and 40 power?

I've been building for (and this easily could be wrong) technique on players who I want holding a block for a while (OTs, TEs) and power on guys where the goal is to get the quick pancake and move on to the next guy (FBs). Basically, I see it as power is the high risk/high reward block, tech is the "safe" block, but you're really going to need a bunch of both to be effective.

My offensive line are all at around 70/50 (Power/Technique) with my TE & FB at 75/45 (Power/Technique)

70/10 is proabably a lot more expensive than 40/40, as getting 30 points starting at 10 is going to be a lot cheaper than 30 points starting at 40.

The opportunity cost of adding a point to Power when power is at 40 is probably 4 points of technique at 10. Getting sacks is "sexy", so expect the majority of the D-line to have a fairly significant investment in pass rush technique, so you also need to consider the opportunity cost of just considering running skills.

84 Power/43 Tech is my biggest discrepency.

Still has a long way to go on balance, awareness, footwork, quickness, and sprinting.

I've seen good results with both, but I tend to agree inside blockers more Power, Outside more Tech.

What I find interesting though with my players is, my Tech heavy tackle, paired with Pancake SA (Which works with Tech), has the most Cakes. So if you want to maximize the Pancake SA, you need high tech.

Tech will give you that hold block
power will give you that pancake %.

you don't need power to pancake
you don't need tech to hold a block.

Pancake Chef is technique (knock off balance) Get Low is power (push back).

Makes sense, as the counter is Break Run Block and Hold Ground.

As I understand it (and I hope it's right cuz I found it useful to think of in this way)the 'block engagement/attribute ladder' goes broadly like:

Awareness finds the guy to block
Technique engages and holds the block
Power finishes the block (the pancake bit of the block)

I made up the term 'block engagement/attribute ladder'. I quite like it.

To me that would suggest a combination is important, but this guy's stats...

...make an ass of me - 46 cakes in 7 games! I've got O-linemen who haven't had that many cakes in, like, 30 games!

The real question is do both tech and pow fire off in a pass block interaction. I.e. does the pass rusher get 2 shots at winning? If so, I would split them up, 60/40 and try to win 2 rolls rather than one.

If your pass rusher only attempts to break the block by his highest attribute, i would min/max. But the devs always say you can't min/max in this game, so I'm sure if you are a tech rusher, power comes into the formula even at some level of variable.

Probably best to see if guys who crank just tech get like .5 sacks per game in seasoned and beyond. Then we know.

Don't get too excited, he's had 3 complete cupcake games won by a total of 232-3 where 36 of his cakes came from.

Some of my technique run blockers have higher pancakes than my power guys. However, I place that on whom they line up across, not necessarily that one skill is better than the other.
