I understand the lader games are made through ladder rank. But I still dont agree with having to play a team a level higher then mine. Even if his team isnt performing well, too many advantages for him. Im curious to see these results

I don't remember it - but there was a fairly decently sized thread about this not too long ago in which Corndog explained the reasoning behind it...sorry - wish I could offer more info - but you'd probably find it interesting.
edit: looked for the thread but couldn't find it - thought it was in bugs but didn't see it

Happened quite a bit last season, here's a few examples:

Zorp's the most plentiful but probably the least interesting to watch, I'm pretty sure they were an outlier last season. Other teams show a bit more of how it can go. It's not a sure loss, but normally I'd expect a team one season up to be better, of course.
Having them happen this early in the season is mostly a function of how starting ratings are generated for teams. The team you're up against didn't exist in S2, so they have the same rating as rookie teams, which probably isn't fair. If they're any good at all, they'll move up ahead of all the rookie teams eventually, but possibly not until after they've beaten several of them badly in ladder games.

There's good reasons for it, but it shouldn't happen this early in the season. The starting rating for a brand new Sophomore team should be higher than the starting rating for a brand new Rookie team, but right now it isn't.
