Title says it all...besides "break run block" ability, which other ones do you guys think play the biggest role. My guys seem to have a heck of a time getting off blocks. All of them have been pumping up "brb" but that doesnt seem to be having a huge impact..

Well on what position?

btw the best way to break a block is to avoid it entirely

Hold Ground and Break Run Block when engaged along with any relevant SA's for doing so.

that was my original plan..but my LBs seem to just get hung up anyway even with logs of sprint/quickness and brb

I'd put less emphasis on breaking blocks and more on putting enough people to make the tackle in a quick manner.

It seems joes just don't break blocks consistently enough to count on a broken block.

Pumping Pursuit up helped me out alot....seems that that will get to the ball before the blocker gets to them

4-3 really isn't an outside run stopping form in this game.

Well, in a real 4-3 your DE's are smaller, faster guys, so ya, running right at them is usually a good start. However, 4-3 DE's in real defenses work at keeping outside contain which means even if they get blocked, the play is still inside where they have help.

In GLB2, your edge guys don't do that. When they get blocked, they're effectively out of the play until they make a break run block roll, and the sim doesn't concern itself with whether they were contained or not as the back will just run past them as if they weren't there at all.

That said, if you put really, really big guys in at DE in the 4-3, you can kinda get something like Seattle's 4-3 Under hybrid D. We don't have the plays for it, but if the DE smears the OT, then suddenly the sim cares very much about that DE and the back will dance and just get plowed for a decent loss. It's not a consistent thing, but it does work.

Alternatively, you can spend three nights watching replays of all the best run teams and seeing what defense happened to work the few times it came up and then build a defense where it comes up more than a few times.

I have really strong pattern recognition skills and a lot of experience putting it to breaking game AI's (I really for reals used to write strategy guides...back before wiki's and free strategy guides killed the money in that).

I also enjoy doing so, so watching a bunch of games and breaking down not just what plays work, but what specifically made the play work is happy happy joy joy for me.

I'm also a bit off...in case you hadn't noticed. O_o
