Well, one major complication is that there is no "depth chart". There's "depth charts", so how do you display all of them.

Come up with a suggestion to overcome that hurdle and this may get some traction.

Every team already needs to set a "default" option for depth chart on offense, defense, and special teams. Show us that one.

Right but that chart doesn't even need to be used so what is the point of misleading people?

Though I personally find it dumb that in a casual atmosphere with superstar players that you can hide your depth charts. There should be only one chart and open for view making gameplanning around a superstar much more interesting. There should also be a lockdown feature where you tag a superstar player are able to match a defender on him at all times where applicable.

Either a) go with your second point, or, to address this...

Do you really think many teams will set their "default" depth chart to one with kickers at QB and safeties playing DT? I think most reasonable teams will set their default to be mostly accurate. Really, where I think it'd be best to see is Special Teams charts, to easily tell who has what rotations going for success.

As things stand, we have the ability to see who a team lists as "starters" on their default depth chart. Why not list the backups and let us see who is the nickle back?

The default is irrelevant tho. That is the point. It is just sort of deceiving to anyone who isn't the oc/dc/owner.
