I was thinking of ways to add a little bit to the game planning experience in GLB2, without adding anything complicated. One idea would be to add a defensive focus area before each game, for instance:
- Inside runs
- Outside runs
- Short/intermediate passes
- Long passes (don’t give up the big play)
- Balanced
This could give you a small bonus to maybe awareness and consistency attributes on these specific plays, while a small penalty on others (e.g. focusing on stopping the inside runs gives you a slight penalty on long passes … something like that. Should be a zero sum game and the default should be balanced).
Something similar could be done for offense, but from a football standpoint defense makes the most sense (if you build a passing team on offense, you shouldn’t get a bump to passing as that is already inherently built into your team – while defense on the other hand must adapt to a larger extent and cover all bases).
It could add a small component to the strategy part of this game without adding complexity or something that takes time. What do you think?
